Every single day China earns approx. USD2.27 billion due to surplus in global trade.
Not with US alone as exports to US is declining but the entire world
Someone has forgotten to tell the delusional Filipino hawks and Bingbong in Manila that war is very costly.
It will be over faster than anyone can imagine with Manila is total chaos and disarray.

I dare to says even the US can't afford to fight a war with China today. In the aftermath US economy will collapsed.
Stoking a emall proxy war using Philippines is the best solution to her financial crisis. The idea is to apply Russia type sanction on China.
China knew all about US plan way ahead.

Every 100 days the US needs to borrow USD1 trillion to meet her deficit, rising interest repayment and ever soaring expenditure.
As for Philippines the situation is dire.
China can patiently waiting for her to fire the first shot and hell will break free.

Someone wrote that China is now focusing one the 2nd island chain and he is absolutely right. China is extending it's defense right up to the 3rd Island.
So you see Guam and Hawaii bases won't be spared and are easily within China reach of China hypersonic missiles.

Only hope for Philippines is a new President with enough commonsense to avert a National Disaster.

not gonna happen, next one will do the same, bases will stay. what china needs to do is protect asean as I believe the philippines is the proxy to make asean poor again for imperialist reasons. the bombing and and color revolutions of southeast asia starts there. I think China should just ignore Philippine trade. When the Americans bombed Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam... Where do you think that started. A few years coup to over throw Thailand was from there and last years plot against Indonesia.

Just make the Rest of ASEAN rich. Philippines biggest export besides fruits are manpower to the mideast and the west.

The Philippine had a role to play BUT she played it badly, if you want to be taken seriously by the American at least demand something big rather than a small token of $15 million which is an insult to the intelligence of every Filipino. ($500 million are for the construction of new bases instead of armaments, the latter will be finance thru FMS (Foreign Military Sales) usually surplus equipment)

Right taking the fight to the enemy and make SK and Japan worried, They will be careful not to involve themselves to any American misadventure as the theater will be right on their backyard. I meant they're not stupid, most of their trade and imports pass thru the SCS and if conflict do happen I'll see both of them urging restraint and may decided to stay neutral.

Here is my thinking, when push come to shove and their is a conflict, you'll see the disintegration of the Philippine into 2 states, Luzon and Mindanao and 3 smaller state in the Visayas in Cebu, Negros and Samar. Regionalism is abound especially in dialect , whether you liked it or not English is a major language use to communicate NOT Tagalog. That language help us bind together and its easy to see when Imperial Manila is destroyed each province will go its separate way. It will be a liberating experience for them instead of a bloody revolution the destruction of Manila is a way to escape from the tight grip of the oligarch. (The Japanese after taking Manila had the leisure to seize the whole Philippine without a fight)

The PLA/PLAN would have to be the most incompetent fighting force if they have not planned, gamed, incorporated the lessons learned from the conflict in Ukraine, especially with the utility of UUV drones among others that enabled an asymmetrical advantage against Russian Navy.

Having said that, the PLA entire war fighting concept based on their announced strategy and many writings both publicly published and unpublished we can surmise that they have long ago saw the advantages in drone utility as force multiplier, usage in ISR etc..prior to the war with Armenia vs Azerbaijan and the most recent conflict with Russia and NATO/UKRAINE.

There's no doubt that China have looked into these contingencies and possibilities that can and will arise. As the Prussian military commander and strategist Helmuth von Moltke said: "No plan survives first contact with the enemy."

Well, I'm not saying about China as a whole, but only 054A.

To follow up on the important consensus between the two heads-of-state to deescalate tension in the South China Sea,  the Chinese side and the Philippine side through AFP WESCOM agreed on a “new model” for the management of the situation at Ren'ai Jiao early this year after multiple rounds of discussions. Either the “gentlemen’s agreement” or the “new model” is a confidence-building measure aimed at managing disputes, avoiding conflicts and maintaining peace, and has nothing to do with each other's sovereign positions. During the discussion the AFP WESCOM has made repeated confirmation that the “new model” has been approved by all key officials in the Philippine chain of command, including the Secretary of National Defense and the National Security Advisor.

Sounds like another trick for a buildup like Ukraine. Best Start cauterizing and ramping up the escalation.

The Philippines is not backing down in its anti-China rhetoric, now the national security advisor called China's new model pact for the SCS an act of desperation

Philippines accuses China of new island building efforts in the SCS. At this point, the Philippine leadership is under full control of the US, so any negotiation for some kind of detente is pointless. China needs to rush in and consolidate its positions in the SCS to crowd out the other claimants and outside meddlers.
