But how much influence do elections have on the "deep state"? Its a concept that a dozen years ago appeared in the news to describe politics in Turkey when Erdogan started to fight the local deep state - he just about succeeded by now I think - but is now being used for many more states. I read this week that Russia doesn't have a deep state as yet. The BBC made radio and TV series about the British deep state called Yes, Minister. How deep is it in US?
well that is why i had "democracy" in quotes. democracy, is an ideal state that does not exist like socialism.
A democracy should always arrive at (ignoring time constraints) an unanimous choice for the senate/congress/parliament/house/forum lest it disintegrates into "majority rule". So I have always found it funny that newspaper calling russian/chinese/nkorean congresses to be rubber stamp parliaments as their votes are more unanimous - but when true democracy should result in unanimous decisions.
I do believe that the USA shares something much deeper with China. Both have horrible income gap between rich and poor, both is a brutal land of opportunity, both have a very deep pool of patriots, both love money, both have some of the best minds in the world, both have certain parts of the country still in the medieval ages, both have some ruling elite class.
I don't know how deep the US is, but the US is founded by secret society of patriots, just like China is too - dr. sun yet sen's tiandihui comes to mind as a recent one. so there must be a deep one somewhere
