Do you guys think japan and south korea is crazy enough to let the us put this super long range cannons into their territory knowing that it can used as pre emptive first strike against China?
If they do then these countries truly are vassal states with no independence whatsoever in the truest sense of definition
Crucially, the author hasn't considered how China can develop its own cannons with a range of 1000 miles
With a 1000mile range, China-based cannons can cover the entire 1st Island Chain (Japan/Korea/Taiwan/Philippines).
Then the next available landmasses are in the 2nd Island Chain, and Guam doesn't have much land area to work with.
In comparison, cannons based on the 1st Island Chain have a limited land area to work with.
Plus they can only cover Coastal China, leaving the Chinese interior untouched.
We'd be looking at something like huge artillery duels, except that China has a large number of safe rear areas, whilst the 1st Island Chain is under constant bombardment.
So how is the 1st Island Chain going to be resupplied by cargo ships and cargo aircraft, if their ports and runways are under constant artillery bombardment?

So China should welcome the development of low-cost projectiles launched from "Strategic Long Range Cannons", as China should be able to develop and field a comparable hypersonic weapon system, and geography favours China in the Western Pacific.
Plus the Chinese version should cost less AND the Chinese military budget would be far larger in 10 years time.
