What chance does Trump has of winning you ask? I'd say pretty good, because he has the people on his side. As Abe Lincoln once said during the Civil War, “I do the very best I can, I mean to keep going. If the end brings me out all right, then what is said against me won't matter. If I'm wrong, ten angels swearing I was right won't make a difference.”
Well, I'd say he is losing the battle. His press secretary has softened his tone toward the White House press corp. And I expect him to do the same in the near future.
I would say that this is a reflection of his personality. He said intelligence communities were incompetent and corrupted to the core. then in his speech to the CIA, he praised them for an excellent job that they have done.
He attacked the electoral college system as being rigged when he thought he would lose the electoral vote. Then he praised the electoral college as the best system ever and criticized popular vote as being rigged when he won the electoral college votes.
This is not about Trump intending to change the system. This is about how he treats criticism and those who disagree with him. Whoever disagrees with him will be branded as fake, incompetent and corrupted and will be treated as enemies (his own words).
Trump hasn't actually done anything to kill Freedom of the Press, as they remain free to print whatever they wish. He is, however, trying to break the Press' monopoly as purveyor of information to the unwashed masses, and in that task he has allies in the American public. I worry about Trump's protectionism and his willingness to take high risks on foreign policy, but I don't worry about him violating Press freedom en masse.
the fact that he threatened "serious consequences" to those in the media who continue to print bad things about him is actually a violation of freedom of press. A threat from the commander-in-chief of the most powerful nation in the world should be treated seriously, Yes? then his threat alone is a violation of freedom of speech.
In his speech to the CIA, he specifically prohibited media from showing pictures of "empty grass" from his inauguration. That is a very specific thing that he ordered. Note that he didn't order the media not to show "fake news", but ordered them not to show a very particular thing, regardless of whether that thing was true or not. that alone constitutes violation of free press.
I am a Republican myself and voted for Republicans almost every time I've voted. In the last election couple months ago, I voted straight Republican ticket, except for the President. Like AF Brat, I voted for Cruz during the Primary but he lost... Don't feel the need to defend Trump just because you are a Republican and he happens to be a Republican President. You and I have every right to question our leaders.
