There is circling rumour for many, many months ... ...

Tsai Ing Wen who is always excitedly nervous and jittery and embarrassingly smitten ( for many people in Taiwan ) when she meets US official, and her party will release TaiPing island and give up its sovereignty to US.

Extremely unlikely.
The Adults in the US Government will realise that China will go insane and conflict will arise. The other side is the Obama supporters at State.

Obama is too much of a weak coward to do it.

In a last-ditch effort to discredit an upcoming ruling, China plays the nationality card.

Had the table been turned, that it is Japan or USA at the receiving end and it just happen a Chinese is the president of the tribunal, they would cry murder all day long and it would be headline news.

The Japanese judge in question is the man to the right of Abe - Shunji Yanai, who just happen to be also Abe's closest advisor and on the panel of "security panel for legalizing collective self-defense". The panel that wants to seeking to legalize Japan to attack other countries.

So this Shunji Yanai is also the president of the said UN Tribunal. And the western media is still trying to say it is not bias. LOL!

In an Australian court, and I would imagine in other Western legal systems too, a judge who can reasonably be accused of bias is expected to excuse him/herself from a case. It's not unheard of for convictions to be overturned after bias has become apparent. I guess the UN doesn't have any rules regarding this?

I have never imagined that the PCA can be so stupid. Not only China is going to ignore this ruling, but I will imagine so would most of the SCS claimants plus many more.

China will do what it has always done.
It will ignore the PCA when it benefits China - Fiery Cross, etc.
It will invoke PCA when it can justify taking those islands and rocks which are now all reefs and not the property of any other nations.

China wants what it wants and is going to take what it wants until someone stops them. It is as simple as that.

I found it hilarious that it is PHILIPPINES that initiated the arbitration and to claim South China Sea theirs.

Philippines can't even effectively patrol its own sea, let along to safeguard all of South China Sea.
With South China Sea being the MOST IMPORTANT trade route in the world, letting a third world country like Philippines who can't even safeguard its own shore to have claim of South China Sea is a complete joke.

Letting Philippines have claim will just encourage piracy and embolden the pirates in South China Sea and destablize the world economy by threatening the critical sea-lane trade route. Only China has the manpower, technologies to safeguard this critical area.

The shortsightedness of American strategists who want to destablize Asia for their own short term self-interest will suffer the same consequences as their Middle East policy. But rest assure, China will not allow it to progress to that point, it is in China's (and everyone else in Asia's) interest to have a safe, reliable, pirate-free South China Sea.

Shouldn't the Indonesian Navy send their ships to combat piracy in the Philippines instead of gunning down fishermen?

Really? So are you going to start with the absurdity of an ARBITRATION TRIBUNAL going ahead with a ruling when one of two parties is not even interested in taking part of the arbitration process? All legalities that an arbitration tribunal held had already went out the window at that moment don' you think?

"The PCA is not a court, but rather an organiser of

to resolve conflicts between member states."

Since when and in which law system do arbitrators act as court Judges?

I won't be hold my breath for your condemnations that's for sure.

As to your wishes, you are certainly welcome to day dream if that makes you feel any better. The Chinese had been around for more than 5000 years, we got plenty of haters and an extra one don't make an iota of difference.

Thought that was due to the typhoon.
According to the news I've watched, typhoon's heading to Taiwan, not Taiping island (sorry, I reject to accept Taiping island as a reef). Further, if you withdraw force from island defense just because of typhoon and hard living condition, how many island should you give up?
