My sense is that the Coast Guard commandant himself made the call, bypassing the Chain of Command as Marcos is indispensable as he is partying all night with his new buddy the Duran Duran. You can see the anguish face of the commandant as he personally greeted his troop, and what about Tarriela? he seem defiant BUT his service in the force is numbered, he have NO CHOICE but to there to explain himself to the men he sent to danger, he have lost their respect as he is a political soldier anointed by the American.

Yup he had to publicly defend himself, its startling to see himself alone on the stage, where is the commandant, why is he not there, if we follow the command responsibility he should be the one answering the question? Is he being silence not to speak his mind regarding the incident? and also where is Brawner and Teodoro? Like I said Tarriella will likely be the scapegoat and he is trying his very best to redirect the public anger from himself.
And also look how lame he is, looks like somebody had taken the wind out of his sail using an axe....lol
Tarriela is just a PR guy, he can't be the scapegoat for anything because he doesn't make any decisions. He's in a tough spot because he has to spin a defeat as best he can while everyone grills him over it. But that's his job so he has to do it, while all the other guys are hiding far away because it's not their job to go up on stage.
He is as though he is the one setting the gov't policy in the SCS, he is a mere commodore BUT he is acting outside the chain of command with his comments and opinion which is above his pay grade.
Comments and opinions to the public are not orders to ships and sailors in the military.
And here come the backlash, we will hear less noise regarding the SCS incident as it may further question Marcos ability to govern. This answer my question why the press conference is low key with senior officers in the AFP and Politician absent.
And its fleeting to see the LEFT or the communist group had awaken up, they're sensing the people discontent are making hay while the sun shines.
