CJDBY is closing down its army, air force, navy and space forums.

One wonders if this wave of crackdown on internet is stand alone, or clearing the air to make way for something happening in the future.

The era of Chinese military forums is officially over now.

I hope we didn’t have a hand in its demise by linking stuff here...

More likely than not, we contributed to the problem. But I think there must be one event or one leak in particular that they found particularly troublesome. To some extent, CD users already practised some level of self-censorship.

It might have been the 003 satellite picture where we could count how many turbines there were. Or this one from last month:

Maybe I should have blurred it a little first... lol.

Personally, I think it might be one of those unusually sensitive Weibo posts that fell through the cracks and found its way into the wrong hands before any of us caught on. There have been a few photos over the years in ridiculous quality that were removed before anyone reposted onto this forum. One of the recent ones must have been the last nail in the coffin.

Rumour is someone (someone not from CD) went outside the wall and was discussing PLA TOE with foreigners. Specifically he was correcting them and teaching them about military units.

Yes he got Yankeesama’s Weibo banned.

That didn’t stop certain enterprising Indian military forums from claiming that Yankee got banned because he leaked 40 PLA casualties at Galwan.

Do you guys think it has to do with things like this? It seems really specific to me.
Well, according to @Temstar someone was teaching foreigners about the PLA's TOE, and TOE is an acronym for "Table of Organization and Equipment". So, assuming what Temstar said is true, yes. Also, the PLA love being extremely secretive with their stuff ranging from the most minute stuff to something like you mentioned. For example, in one of the old photos for the infantry equipment thread, they censored a FAST helmet for some reason. I can't blame them though. In the comments section of the video you linked, there were US military personal commenting how they loved the video for its relatively detailed overview of the Chinese armored brigades. So, if I were in the position of the PLA and the Chinese intelligence agencies, I would clamp down on the leakers hard regardless of the info's significance.

What does it mean for PLA watching? Will we be seeing less of new developments, e.g photos of new 8x8, tanks, ships taken by civilians?
