BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Water Resources on Saturday issued a Level-IV emergency response to flooding in Shanghai, and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui.

Strong rain caused by the approaching Typhoon Bebinca will hit China's southeastern regions, and the water levels of some medium and minor rivers in the regions are projected to exceed warning thresholds, the ministry said.

The ministry highlighted the prevention of floods in small and medium-sized rivers and mountain torrents in the affected areas to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

China has a four-tier emergency response system for flood control, with Level I being the most severe.

From Sunday night to Monday morning, Typhoon Bebinca will make landfall along the coast from Taizhou in Zhejiang to Qidong in Jiangsu, bringing heavy rain, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.

BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's public security authorities cracked over 3,500 cyberbullying cases in the first half of 2024, said the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Saturday.

This came as the result of a nationwide anti-cyberbullying campaign to crack down on illegal activities such as online slandering, vilification and privacy breaching, which was launched by the MPS at the start of 2024.

During the campaign, public security authorities have kept a close eye on prominent issues of public concern, released anti-cyberbullying regulations with relevant departments, and enforced strict punishments on illegal online accounts, institutions and platforms.

The MPS pledged further efforts to crack down on cyberbullying activities and root out their breeding environment.

Beautiful apartments in Chengdu:

Are those kinds of balconies common in China? Just looking at them makes me nervous.

It looks to me those balconies extend way too far out. I also feel like the angled supports on the sides don't extend far enough. I'd be more comfortable if there were supporting vertical posts on the two outer corners of these oversized balconies.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but these balconies look like a catastrophe waiting to happen.

I'm not sure but maybe if some areas have earthquake risk, these balconies might not have permit to be built there.

Tbh even with earthquakes I don't really see where the risk would be, it would take a lot of damage to make them fall off the building, at that point, the whole thing would collapse anyways.
