The lot in that article assumes that US allies in Asia hold the same values. I'm not talking about what they say in public. It's what they do in practice. Yeah no one in Asia wants to see China dominant but they will hold the same position for anyone else if they were the top power in the region. That's why nationalism is one of the worst in Asia. They said the same things about Japan in 80s. Just look at Hong Kong. The protest leaders are all silent over the police murder of George Floyd. Why? Because it has nothing to do with them. They know the consequences if they actually live up to what they claim to believe to be against police brutality and human rights violations. Their main sponsor the US government would get angry and lesson or rid support for them if they came out in support of US protestors and rioting against US police brutality and human rights violations.

If the US lost influence and power in the world, what would its Asian allies do? They won't be banning together against China. They're sycophants like they've always been. They will follow whatever power is out there for there own self-interests including China just like they do business with China right now.

It's a recurring theme where Americans think the rest of the world will automatically follow them.

The Western hypocrisy has been exposed in Minneapolis and 24 states under virtual martial law.Trump declares dissenting voices of ANTIFA as terrorists. So next time wear a KKK T shirt and shout,Hail Trump

This is quite worrying. I'm quite sure that Russia won't act against China, but if Trump is convinced to form this new group against China, they will pose a serious threat. China must do whatever it takes to split the EU from the US. After that, it'll just be the five eyes and Japan left.

Not really worrying as far as I can tell, especially about him inviting Russia. We are at a time where what the US wants and what it gets from the international community are very different. The G7 convenes very normally but now, we most countries in the EU refuse to even come to Trump's G7 due to his incompetence in handling COVID, his unreliable tendencies and the US being actively the most infected country in the world. Most of the EU leaders probably facepalmed and sighed when they got the invite. Russia's only thinking how to use this opportunity to deal the US another blow.

Russia already refused the invitation and European objected to accept Russia into G7 again.

If it were such a great move against China, why didn't they do it before? They're all allies of the US. What was the hold up? All you have to do is look at North Korea. They called North Korea the most backward country in the world yet they're so worried about it. They spend so much time and attention making North Korea the biggest threat in the world. Why? The US wants control of the world completely. Anyone defies the US means they're not in control of the world completely. Control of the world is the US's obsession. China is 1/5 of the world. Why is it so important? Because their God created the universe. Their entire culture is based on Christian values. North Korea nor China are mentioned in the Bible. The Bible ignores a large portion of the world. Wouldn't God the creator of all things know of his own creations? That's because the Bible wasn't written by God. It was written by mortal men who only knew of the known world to them at the time. China has been around longer than the Bible says there was an Earth. China's existence proves what they believe is a lie. The only way they can rectify that is to take over North Korea, China and the rest of non-Christian world and rewrite their histories in devotion to their religion. If they can't ignore North Korea, they certainly can't ignore China. They're the ones committing an act of war. They spin it as China is a threat to world peace but they're the ones going out of their way to undermine China. So any attempts at isolation is not so they can ignore China. China's existence alone is a threat to everything they were taught to believe. It's all about thinking they can starve China of what it needs to make the Chinese surrender. Any attempt to isolate China is one-step away from war. No one came to assist the US on taking on North Korea meaning the US was alone and it chickened out in the end. But somehow they think they can take on China...? China can do much worse to them than North Korea can ever do.

They cry that China's South China Sea moves will let China disrupt trade of its neighbors. China can do that without the South China Sea. China can do that just by stopping trade with other countries. They see North Korea can be a menace by using military means to disrupt Japanese and South Korea trade. What do they think China can do? They think they can isolate China to the point they can starve China into surrendering and China will do nothing? This is all on the assumption that US allies are as dumb as Trump to then follow his plan.

Look at Australia and Canada. They think they can insult China but China has to continue buying their goods as normal or even more. They're shocked that China has punished them and act like they don't know what they did wrong for them to be punish. All their plans that they think China will surrender all have the same mistake. They think China will do nothing. That's a fatal error. This is like the discussion in Ballistic Missile thread. People think the US can use nukes and there are no consequences at all. Does the US allies in Asia want nuclear weapons exploding next door to them? Same thing when it comes trying to economically isolate and starve China into surrendering.

Trump is touting that he took on China like no other President. Yeah and he failed miserable hence why he can only point to that he took on China and not point to any victories. The Republicans hate the trophy culture. They hate it when leftist liberal communist teachers give students "A"s just for effort. Trump touting he took on China is giving an "A" for effort.

US troops crossed the 38 parallel into North Korea in 1950, with the hope to threaten and occupy China. China just proclaimed the Peoples' Republic of China [PRC] on 1 October 1949, by Mao. All the gold reserve, museum pieces, other valuables etc were looted and taken to Taiwan [Formosa] including Chang and his lacky soldiers and US sympathisers with the help of the US. Why? Because US was strong, China did not have an adequate navy to cross the Taiwan Straight. A US general McCather asked his president for 28 nuclear bombs to level China, once and for all. President refused. A nascent embryonic poverty stricken China marshalled volunteers, included Mao's son who died in fighting the Korean war, poorly equipped... Yet the sheer will power and guts of these heroic fighters drove the Yanks back to the 38, with many US killed and wasted their lives, for nothing. They shivered as body bag after boy bag brought the wasted lives back to US soil ..... And there was the Vietnam War. History tells us a lot of things, and Trump should take note...

Nothing to worry about, just another public stunt by Trump - Australia and South Korea have China as one of their top export markets, and Germany has already refused Trump's invitation and would rather talk to China instead:

Korea declared they want in. No doubt India too, since they probably agree to any agreement to seek validation of a 'great' power status.
Australia...doesnt matter, she is already held on stranglehold by China, her economical future will be decided by the chinese.

South Korea would probably be a moderating voice at any G7 summit, given its economic and political position on China.
