You previously wanted China to stand for something, but couldn't come up with a narrative that would actually work.

Well, I'm giving you a possible one below, which is China liberating the Kashmiri people from the occupying India Army
And which would highlight the nature of the Indian democratic government run by the BJP/RSS.

BJP/RSS ideology is as a Hindu-Aryan supremacist organisation which even today conducts anti-Muslim pogroms and lynchings like the Nazis did against the Jews. Time article below.


Remember that even Hitler started as the democratically elected leader of the German Republic.
Below is a New York Times article on Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah when they were in charge of the Gujarat riots decades ago.

I'd be weary of assuming that the relationship is "over" just because of one administration. Merkel & co. are simply sitting on the fence waiting to see what comes out of the November elections.

What you've just written was accurate 3 years ago, but not anymore.

The biggest changes have been:

1. The worsening strategic competition / cold war between China and the USA, with EU interests stuck in the middle.
2. The departure of the Atlanticist UK from the European Union, removing a key blockage to further EU integration.
3. The Coronavirus making Europeans really realise they need a stronger European Union government to control their own destiny.
4. And it's been the trigger for Germany to agree and lead on the first European Union common treasury bonds, backed up by a larger federal budget as well.

So your proposal is that China should stand for the universal principle of anti-racism?

I agree that would work. It would give China ground to criticize the BJP. But to do that, China would have to relent the yoke of the Uighurs a bit, to be consistent.

No, I said it was something for you to consider, since you said you wanted China to stand for something, anything at all.

And the principle is not anti-racism. It's that armies shouldn't be used as an oppressive occupation force.

Companies prodded to rely less on China, but few respond (except for the pharmaceutical industry)

US militay still present in Europe and not going to change. So the "US lost Europe" doesn't mean much
