Not sure why it’d be 10x pl-15 and not 8, pretty sure the outer underwing pylons are supposed to hold short range AAMs and not BVRAAMs. Sino flankers may be different than Russian ones in this regard but I don’t think we’ve ever seen them hanging PL-12/15 thereArmed to the teeth would be with 10x PL-15 and 2x PL-10.
In terms of pure AAM numbers, this is literally half what the J-16 can be armed with for A2A role.
and will those JH-7A be transferred to PLANAF?Really 15th Air Brigade or the fifteenth Brigade?
And even more interesting if true, it would be the first JH-7A Brigade that converted to the J-16 ....
Don't think so. PLAN Aviation jets are for frontline deployment in China's potential conflicts in East China sea and South China sea, they deserve better aircraft. They will get naval version of J16 (J16H?) to replace their JH7 for strike roles.and will those JH-7A be transferred to PLANAF?
long term i suppose that would be the case, but is there solid info on how will the transition go? i find it unlikely all those PLANAF units will be just moved to PLAAF in one go, rather than a prolonged process where carrier based a/c gradually replace the land based a/c in PLANAF units, and those replaced land based a/c are either retired or move to PLAAF.I thought the PLANAF coastal units were all being moved into the PLAAF? That the PLANAF was now only going to be consisting of carrier air units.
I agree that the JH-7s will likely all be replaced by J-16s. There is a huge advantage in the J-16 platform in general.
