China Flanker Thread III (land based, exclude J-15)

Okay then, I see. Do you think the single-seat Flankers will still be around for some years as well? Or just two-seaters?

Somewhere here I read the single-seat aircraft would be phased out for 5th Gen aircraft. Maybe I am remembering it wrong or misunderstood.
I think the J-11BG will be around for a while - these are still quite new airframes. J-11A should disappear in the next 2-3years, then Su-30 then Su-35 due to them not integrating well with rest of PLAAF in terms of logistics or CEC and having pretty outdated electronics.

What a great explanation, very detailed which is quite helpful. Thanks very much, Maikeru!

SU-35s are wayyy too new to retire. either sold back to russia or given some secondary role such as training or patrolling ADIZ

Best outcome would be to sell them, otherwise use for routine tasks such as intercepting P8As and what have you to save airframe life on 6th Bde's J-16s, also use for adversary training.

Also interesting ... at first sight just some nice legacy Flanker images (Su-27SK/UBK, J-11 and J-11A (MLU)):

Officially just a ETC Brigade, but Foolsball again saw something interesting:

Even more interesting: So far I don't remember any active Su-27SK/UBK-J-11/J-11A-unit in the ETC anymore!

So what unit could this be? The "reformed" 42nd Air Brigade with got these legacy Flankers from the 41st Air Brigade at Wuyishan, when it converted to J-20 in Mid 2023?
The Chinese words on top "东空某团" means a regiment of ETC air force, not a brigade. If the words are on purpose and correct, this cannot be any ETC brigade.

I know, but that makes it even more strange since there are now active Fighter Regiments in service anymore

Yeapp, still useful for long time, I thought SU-35 had been updated to Chinese electronic and weapons ?
No, maybe some COM-systems, but at least by what I know, no Chinese weaponry.

Su-35s could be sold to Iran.

Oh come on! China hasn‘t sold any Su of any kind since it received its own first Flanker and now to think they would see a Su-35 is sustain ridicolous.
