Might put a spanner in the arguments of some DC folks that the ROCAF is better trained enough to offset the difference in air power though.

Funny enough, a specific pan green flack who recently published a book was who I had in mind with that comment. Sadly, as the hawks in DC start to control more of the conversation around China I think these sorts of views are going to have another turn in the spotlight. Anyways, think I’ll stop here before I accidentally derail this thread.

I know a few influencers who do, though more in the general opinion space and not anyone with serious expertise on military matters.

The spanner was first tossed in 2016 when the Su-30s engaged F-15Js over the East China Sea and came out on top.

it might be right 20-30 years ago ... but right now, I'd bet that PLAAF pilots are better trained than ROCAF pilots

Ahh I see. There's the problem for me. Always believed the Mirage to be a much more agile fighter in high altitude than the heavy Su-30. Of course pilot skill is of greatest importance.
