When did we ever get confirmation that J-16 used a single big screen?

The first picture doesn't show a single large display -- I believe in that image the J-16 has the same two screen display we know, but the angle of the photo only shows the left display.

The second picture is one which we do not know if it is actually applied on J-16 (or indeed any other aircraft).

Which is to say, I think J-16s have always used a two screen display to begin with since they began production.
We've had indications they've done some applied development for a newer single large screen cockpit that could potentially be applied for J-16 or other Flanker aircraft, but we have no confirmation if the PLA has actually pursued it. It might be present on J-16D or J-15B/T, or perhaps new batch production J-16s.
Or perhaps it is an upgrade that the PLA assessed and decided it wasn't important enough to buy.

But either way, I think the "baseline/standard" J-16 cockpit has always been a two screen configuration.

First is maybe angle issue and the second one iirc is something out of an air show so not definitively linked to J-16
I understand the first image could be explained as an angle thing, but still even if it's angle issue, the screen looks remarkably larger than it should as a two piece

the second image is not an airshow, if my memory is is not faded, it was from an interview of SAC on CCTV7, so...

regardless, this airshow image is the first actually image we got the two screens config from a J-16, I can't recall any previous images or news that indicate the cockpit layout of J-16 beyond the two images I posted

yes, it could be a J-16D, or event something else, but IMO it's more likely that J-16 may experience some upgrades since certain batch, if assume switch back to two screen is completely unlogical

Thanks ... by the way, have we ever seen a PLAAF Flanker doing a Cobra?

I talked to a Mig 29 OVT pilot at an airshow one year, he said very few people in the world are certified to do the cobra. I would imagine those people in PLAAF might have more important things to do than airshows.

emmm, i think more likely scenario is that PLAAF regard cobra as an uselss maneuver beyond demostrate of agility of fighter, so combat troops never train or encourage their pilot to do so.

Also, since flanker is a russian based aerodynamics design, so not in the demo team as well, that's why we only saw J-10B TVC did cobra once in Zhuhai

I don't think this is the first image of the two screen configuration.

We've an image a few years ago, albeit a partial image, indicating a two screen layout.

The new image from this Changchun airshow, imo, is merely confirming the past partial images that it is indeed a two screen configuration.
That's why I'm saying I don't think there was ever a "change" from a two screen configuration, but rather that two screens was how it was setup from the very beginning.
