Angadow is a mod on CJDBY. I'd start by looking there.
It says north sea and south sea air force are having air defense exercise on yellow sea. They mentioned "freedom defense" (literal translation) I am not too sure what is the actual military tems, but they are meant that they can engage however they want. 2 J-8 (red team) as defense vs 1 J-11 (blue team). The first sortie, J-11 manage to use jammer and escape (couldn't hear clearly after if J-11 manage to kill off the J-8). The J-8 pilots (I think they mention that he is a squadron leader and a veteran) states that this give them the opportunity to hone their skills and properly deploy tactics (they made a mistake during the first sotie as the leader mentioned) to ensure to victory when the first opportunity comes. 2 hours later, blue and red team take off again (missing what the announcer was saying) red team this time was able to track and lock on. There was 10~20 sortie. The training was mostly to efficiently use ground control (plus radar) and EWAC in a 2 on 1 situation

Seems like even 3rd gen fighters like the J-8 can be a threat to 4th gen fighters when used under the correct circumstances.
A Sea Fury took down a Mig-15 in 1952.
In correct circumstances a generation older fighter could turn from Turkey shoot stuff to a real headache.
