Would that be first new j11b since j16 entered production? So in fact j16 and j11b (and j15) are getting made simultaneously?

Reshuffling between units seems common in plaaf, so it's perfectly possible some other unit that had j11b got some other planes, and handed down their j11b to 7th div.

Perhaps brand new J-16 are flying in an ex j11b equipped regiment as well?

J-16s are more of a multi-role fighter in the same vein as the Su-30. There is very little overlap between the J-11B and the J-16.

Of course j16 is multirole. That didn't stop plaaf giving su30, when they first came, to fighter regiments, replacing j8 and the like in those regiments. So there would be precedent for such a move.

Is there any physical evidence of the mass production of the J-16 ? I have seen every kind of mass production planes from China here on SDF except the J-16.

We only have evidence for 24 or more planes. It has been sighted a couple of months ago in Dingxing, so it is possible that it has already entered service.

Can Deino or tphuang shed more light on this?
