How can you tell it's a J-11D, just by looking?

Radome.

So far only J-11D has that specific canted radome design. (For SAC flankers, ofc)

How can you tell it's a J-11D, just by looking?

The primary give away is the nose. Similar to the J-10C. They have the same AESA manufacturer. J-16 has an AESA too but from a different manufacturer. The nose also keeps the traditional Su-30 arrangement.

Radar dome is gray and forward-slanted, indicating that a second generation AESA radar has been installed.

No! By feeling. Apparently Siege has telepathic power and feel what kind of plane it is.
