I am fairly certain that the J-11D's array will have more than 1760 T/R modules. One of the reasons why NRIET was chosen over LETRI for the J-10B's AESA tender was because it could pack more channels into a small radome. Hence, given that all Flanker derivatives have the same radome size, a radar from NRIET should have more T/R modules than LETRI's 1760-channel radar aboard the J-16. ...

I think both NRIET and LETRI use GaAs transistors, but this could have changed by now.

Many Thanks for your explanation.

RE: What kind of T/R modules cooling system do NRIET and LETRI use ?

I meant a Cooling system as in ... ...

Install a superb Cooling system, in order to pack more T/R modules into the same area ?

I guess there is not much discussion anywhere on the internet on AESA T/R modules cooling system.

Flanker is a heavy fighter plane, wouldn't it be better if J-10 vs Gripens? so it would be in the same class? anyways this is the first time China and Thailand airforce have joint exercises, it's historic.

J-11As are among the least advanced Fourth Gen fighters currently used by PLAAF. China probably feels safer exposing the J-11A than it does the J-10A.

The J-11s will do fine, they will "tailor" the ROE to each fighters strengths and weaknesses, coming up with scenarios that allow each bird and her pilots to enjoy an advantage, the Flankers are wonderful dog-fighters even though they are considerably bigger than the Grippens, it will be lots of fun??

The Facts Don't Tell Stories: J-11D 1102 with Taihang Engines

Nice ... but besides 1102 take a look at the background; could this be a serial J-16 ??

The wing-tip pylons suggest indeed this to be a J-16, however the light-grey colour hints this to be for the PLANAF ... so besides the 3. Division, a second operational unit ??
