Again with the YJ-83K
Lots of great pics of ongoing evaluations, trials, and exercises.

But still, always containing the two prototype aircraft and the one painted in official colors.

I hope that this next cruise/exercise, where they are being escorted by the two Type 051C DDGs (115, 116) and two of the Type 054A FFGs (538, 550) will be an opportunity for seeing them not only exercising navigation and formations as a carrier group, but will also involve some exercises with more J-15s.

IMHO, it' would be a good opportunity, and is getting close to the time to see four to six J-15s operating off the Liaoning at once. Pictures of that would be nice.

Well, one can hope.

Thanks for posting this excellent vid! I was surprised that the high G force loading could cause the blood to flow out of the hair follicles! That goes to show that top gun performance must be match by both blood & sweat.

I suspect that is not a fully weighted dummy missile. The missile pylon appears to be the same as typical Alamo pylons on Russian su-27 family. I suspect a fully weighted YJ missile would need a different pylon.

Agreed but that ASM-pylon is IMO not the AA-10 pylon but indeed the larger one also used by the JH-7A. Here's an even larger one ...

What makes you think that?

What other reason is there to fly an aircraft with a dummy if the dummy is under weight. The purpose of flying with dummies is to test how the aircraft handles with simulated payloads, necesitatting real simulated weight

Are you sure that's a production plane and not an older picture of one of the prototypes ? And can you tell from the angle rather the plane is using the AL-31 or a WS-10A ?

If it is a AL-31 that raises two questions. Since the AL-31's that China has are not special versions for naval ops to deal with the salty sea air those engines wouldn't last very long. And the second question is what does that tell you about the WS-10A ? That they would rather use a plain AL-31 then a specialized WS-10A for their naval fighters. And can they actually take apart the AL-31 and sprey it with a protective coating against the salty sea air ?
