J-15 may or may not be the naval flanker designation, but I'm pretty sure it's talking about the naval flanker here.

Is it possible that J-11B is the naval flanker? We never saw any photos of J-11B in PLA colors, or flying for that matter. It seems to still be in prototype.

Maybe J-11B's wings can fold up. And they're ready to start flight tests.

According to what we have seen... it has entered service with PLAAF...

The first batch of J-11B entered the service with PLAAF 1st Division (serial # 10x2x) in late 2007

Could the J-15 be the semi-stealth naval fighter that was once much talked about? If so, it would be a big surprise.

nope, even J-11Bs status in PLAAF is in doubt right now. I hear so many bad rumours coming out about it, that I didn't even list it in my top 20 list. Basically, whether J-11B is even considered to be fully operational is debatable.

What happened? Is it hinged around the engine or something else?

J-11B is very bad news.

This means PLA has no choice. It has to go hurry up and fund a twin engined J-10.

It also suggests the SAC naval flanker is not going to work out. SAC should just shut its doors permanently. They are like the PRC soccer team.

Thanks to the reliability problems WS-10A engine, the J-11B had been in limbo the last few years. It seemed the major problems of the WS-10A was finally resolved and production is now in full swing. :coffee:

Do tell, Huitong, just what do rumors say is the problem with j11b? Production or the whole airframe or subsystems or what?

Or they've just decided that given all the time that's passed, they might as well just work on the J-11C, in a case of Arjunitis (no offense to our Indian members).

Well, it's SAC so I'm not really surprised. I would be surprised if they actually managed to come up with something decent.
