New J-16 with Taihang
if these images are freshly taken, it would suggest another regiment of j11b (with j11bs to go along) standing up very soon. But why such a pause between the last regiment and this new one? it's been close to two years now since the last j11b regiment stood up, no? Previous regiments were produced quicker.
One possible explanation could be that the production capacity is now split between j11 and j15. And much like j10 production, it is managed so the whole batch is handed over to the user only when enough planes for a whole squaddron are made. Hence the two year wait, as j15's may jhave been made in some low rate series back in 2011.
of course, that isn't as efficient having the line do j11b then swithcing over completely to other models. Which is what may have happened if these images turn out to be old stuff from 2011.
Wasn't there a big scandal when J11Bs lost in DACT to J10As, but more humiliatingly, J11As as well. Perhaps the PLAAF suspended J11B orders pending an investigation into whether the fault for that lay with pilot training or the new planes?

Nah, they're just building J-15s for the big debut on the carrier, batch production makes lots of sense when building derivitives. The Flanker is not going to turn inside the J-10 without OVT, it just is physically impossible, and it is likely those engagements favored the J-10, which makes a lot of Chinese happy and puts the Flanker down, showing the superiority of good ole Chinese engineering over old tired Soviet designs. So these things are all political and there is lots of undertow for the unsuspecting. In the real world OVT makes a difference on a large long aircraft, when we are all to sensitive to say so, we get a skewed world view, just listen to the blowby if the J-10 and J-20 mix it up and the J-10 puts it on her big sister? Thats why the F-16 has been so successfull, it will turn, it will also eat you alive if you snooze-------think Lawn Dart------. FACT, those nick names don't just happen in thin air, kinda like my own proprietary ThunderHogge II for the F-35, LOL! Cheers Brat
As to the J-11B and ECM, to fight these aircraft you must know them, and to know them you need to meet the actual threat, why "Red Flag" and "Top Gun" are game changers, the bad guys not only flew aircraft with a big red star, they got into their role and played it to the hilt, they won some too, but their big job was to prepare the kids who came through these schools to start thinking and playing to the strengths of the aircraft they were operating, in other words to learn how to "fight" their aircraft and weapons systems, and to EXPLOIT, the other guys weaknesses! Cheers Brat

I think it took a while for the existing regiments to get all of their planes. Also, maybe they were really busy with the production of J-15s?
Yeah, the J-11B loosing to J-11A was a big story, but I think this past time at Dingxin they performed much better. It is disappointing that the 1st division J-11B pilots didn't even use their EW suite.
