according to kanwa, PLAAF phase-2 program to reduce J-11 RCS,last year, janes claim that PLAAF has reduce SU-27SK overall RCS from 15 m to 3 m.plan call to reduce the 3m RCS further.
3m RCS still consider a very large target,APG-77 AESA could detect 1 m target at 200 plus km range, while older legacy APG-63 (F-15C) is quoted at 90km.

So a F-22 can spot the SU-27SK before the SU-27SK and spot the F-22, that's not news!

On the other hand reducing the RCS of your fighters so that opposing fighters have to get within range of your radar and BVR missiles is!

correction: APG-77 could dtect a 1 meter target at 200km away,legacy radar such APG-63 for F-15C is 90km, APG-80 for F-16E is getting 110km.

This site is saying what I said weeks ago. There is no evidence at all that the J-11B uses WS-10a. I still am not convinced that initial J-11B's use WS-10a, I think China used AL-31F's from something else.

basically huitong made that comment after posting a picture of Chinese bbs with comment that J-11B with PL-8 and WS-10A. Then, he got corrected by other people that it's actually AL-31F

How does the J-11B compare to the SU-30MK2?

I wonder which gap is bigger , US versus China or China versus Vietnam?

apparently, Vietnam is buying 12 SUM-30MK2 to counter China along with the 6 kilos.

MOSCOW - Russia has secured an order from Vietnam for 12 Su-30MK2 fighter jets worth more than $500 million (368 million euros), the Vedomosti newspaper said May 14, citing top aviation industry officials.

The contract with Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport was inked in January, according to the paper, adding that the supersonic fighters are to be sold without on-board weapons.

Contracts for missiles and other arms to equip the planes could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, the daily reported.
A source in the Russian defense industry confirmed the newspaper report and added that the first planes would be delivered in 2009, the Interfax news agency reported.
"A contract for the delivery of Su-30MK2s was signed by Rosoboronexport at the beginning of this year," the source told Interfax. "The delivery of the first Su-30MK2 to the client is planned by the end of the year."
The contract with Hanoi is worth more than $600 million (440 million euros) to Russia, according to the industry source.
Just last month, media reported Russia had sealed a $1.8 billion deal for the sale of six submarines to the Vietnamese navy.
With these contracts Vietnam becomes one of Russia's five largest arms clients, alongside India, Algeria, Venezuela and China, Vedomosti said.
The weapons trade has proved one of Russia's most profitable sectors since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Russia saw record arms sales in 2008 of $8.35 billion (6.5 billion euros), according to figures released by President Dmitry Medvedev in February, and Rosoboronexport said last month it expected similar results in 2009.

Based on broad features, the J-11B is better than the Su-30MK2. The MK2 is still stuck with a mechanical antenna design that is at least a generation behind the J-11B. The electronics of the J-11B is probably a lot newer too. The aircraft dynamics are not going to be that much different, so all the distinctions will be along electronics.

if the results of J-10 vs su-30mkk are true and I don't see why they can't be, then I wouldn't consider mk2 to be really threatening. Just because I really don't know how useful they could make it without the same type of early warning platforms, supporting fighter jets that PLAAF would have access to. At the same time, I also question the training of VAF and the quantity of missiles they have.

If Mk-2 is better. They will have follow up on even the Mk 3. Why sales of Su-30MKK series stagnant?

More or less it tells u something.

And I don't know why when Vietnam purchase something. Automatically assume it is direct at China. What can 12 additional plane makes a different against thousands of PLAAF,PLAN planes??

Even 12 F-22 will not make much different. Each Raptor can only carry 8 Aim-120. How are they going to shoot down 120 F-7??
