Actually it's in America's interest to invite China to join Red Flag, there is no better opportunity to assess your potential opponent's capabilities than flying with them. If all those cyber espionage hypes are true the US shouldn't have to worry about leaking information since there is nothing the Chinese don't already know. I think if the US send the invitation PLAAF will turn it down, they want to keep the fog of war.

I absolutely agree, and the old adage is keep your friends close, and your enemies closer comes to mind. I really think that the Chinese people are realizing that America though not perfect in any sense of the word, might make better friends than enemies, and as Ronald Reagan made the statement, "Peace through Strength", is good policy and brought the world together in a way that it hadn't been before. I am a little "dumb", but my love for and respect for the Chinese people has only grown through this forum, I realize that I sometimes make "cowboy" observations, but I think many Americans want the Chinese people to enjoy the same freedoms and responsibilities that all free men are entitled to.IMHO Brat

^^^ Lets hope this period of detente continues. But someone needs to inform the next incumbent of the White House ;)

Well, hopefully we will shortly see a new regime, instead of the Afterghanderstanders and their war on business and private medicine, nobodys safe with this crew. LOL

Anyway, how many of the two place flankers are there in the bad guys squadron? We actually had a couple of Su-27s in Rockford, Il in civilian hands, but I think they were sold to someone in Cali? The fellow in Quincy, Il that has the two Mig 29s also had at least one Mig 21, and I was encouraged to come up when they were flying it for a back seat ride, now that would be a trip, I'm not sure I'm man enough for that chick, I'd have to say she scares me. I've got to confess, all the Flanker variants are confusing, they are Su-30MKKs?

Very outstanding Mr. Mig, I watched the fourth series on the Su-27, I had seen much of this footage or parts of it before, but this is very helpfull in identifying the various Flankers, the segments with TVC are illustrative of the kick in the butt the Flanker gets from thrust vectoring, and it is truly a game changer. The F-22 achieves a simular benefit from its 2D, although to be quite honest the 3D provides more positive yaw inputs at low speed. The factory test pilots are really quite the showman and seem to enjoy themselves. I would encourage everyone to watch these videos with an open mind, I know those who just hate TVC aren't likely to change their minds, but the control enhancements are very real, particularly as speed goes up, those pitch transitions take a lot of muscle and the TVC provides a very tangible enhancement of control authority, particularly in pitching to the vertical, it enables you to do things with the airplane that are simply not possible without it. This basically follows the discovery channel "Wings" format and is very watchable, shows the Flanker in all its variants to good advantage. I am really excited to see the J-15s and hope China will release a similar series on their Flankers and the J-20. I understand their is a similar series on the J-10, and if someone would post a link to that in the J-10 thread, let me know, as I am not over there much. Thanks Brat

Yes, I was able to watch the first one tonight, I think you will enjoy it when you do get a chance, those Russian factory guys are nutso, I recall seeing the Raptor at Oshkosh several years ago, I was just blown away by how quick it was and how fast it could turn, and the thrust vectoring is truly amazing, from take off rotation through the landing flare!

The series are outstanding, the original russian ones appeared first.
The last chapter deals with the Su-30MKK that China bought, but the program does not really go in depth into China`s or India`s Flanker programs, but at least they mention a bit of them.

They mention all the variants built by Russia and the evolution of the Flanker family, however they go in depth into Flanker variants like Su-34.

Right the Su-30Mkk is basically a multirole ground attack variant like the F-15e, and the Indian bird has TVC. The flat nozzle test aircraft looked a little odd, one thing I did not realize was that the Su-35s FCS makes adjustsments if you loose and engine on takeoff, that is a feature that could definetly be a life saver

The Chinese Flankers most likely equivalence in Russian variants are

J-11B=Su-27SM
J-15=modernized Su-33

J-16=Su-30MKK
