Is my eyes playing a trick on me? Does that nose looks like AESA?
China has come a long way in the last decade or so, but the Russians are not useless either, and China should never be too proud to refuse a chance to expand their own technical understanding and capabilities.
its not just a question of proud. There will be a high cost to adquire a whole bunch of su-35. These things are not cheap. And besides there will be a high political cost too. china already has the j-20. buying su-27 variants now would look really bad
What high political cost would that be?
Personally, I highly doubt the Su35 buy as well because it clashes with the J11B, and it makes no sense logistically to buy a small number (I don't even think the Russian fanboys dare suggest a massive order). They might buy one or two for study like they were willing with the Su33, but that is still a stretch.
Does Russia still owe China foreign debt? I suppose if Russia came to China and asked for China to forgive those debts or offered weapons as a means to pay them off, China might just say yes so at least they get something for the debt.
Although if that was the case, there are plenty of more useful things the PLA could use instead of Su35s, like heavy transports/tankers, more weapons for their existing Su30s or even the Su34 would all be a much better choice than Su35s.
I agree to all your points. But could there be another angle to this deal, if there actually will be a deal, and I highly doubt it: China and Russia are buddies nowadays, China will suport Russia whenever it can. Now Russia badly want to sell Su-35's for cash and for market share, Would China buy a few just to help them out?
buying just a few will not really help them. If china want to support russia better buy a big number.
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, just what exactly is there in terms of 'evidence' for these Su35 claims?
