@Hendrik_2000 bro what is there not to like about us Chinese husband, I cook for my wife and I treat/pamper her like a queen. I don't know about the present generation, but in ours (middle age..lol) we were taught to respect woman.
Yes apparently the secret get out "Chinese make a good husband" well not all of them but most Chinese do treat their wife like princess. And more and more young Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese girl know that too now. So studying in China is now popular like these girl did. Yeah I guess the same with younger generation they are more into equality like this guy he cook, clean, wash the dishes

No offense Hendrik but this seem a bit too desperate. Almost a soapbox for "China men need partners. 101 reasons why they are good hubbies".

I think China will automatically pull women from ASEAN and Central Asia but the economy needs to do good with good per capita incomes. With money comes more "opportunities".

Steel City Is China’s First to Offer Cash Handouts to Boost Birthrate on Heels of Three-Child Policy

(Yicai Global) July 29 -- The Chinese city of Panzhihua, known for its iron and steel industry, has become the first in the country to introduce cash subsidies to encourage families to have more than one child following the introduction of the nation’s three-child policy two months ago.

Located in southwestern Sichuan province, Panzhihua brought out a series of childbirth support measures yesterday, including a monthly allowance of CNY500 (USD77) for each second and third child until they are three years old. Local families raising three kids can receive CNY36,000 (USD5,560) over the period.

The central government announced the three-child policy on May 31 in a bid to raise the birthrate in an aging society. It allows couples to have a third child and follows a two-child limit, implemented at the start of 2016, that failed to substantially boost the numbers of children being born.

That sort of money is far, far too small to have an impact.
20 000 USD and above might see some movement, but only in poorer areas where prices are lower, and only if paid on one time lump sum installment.
Nah, it's significant. Needs to be rolled out on a larger scale

This is exactly the type of news which gives me unparalleled hope for the Peoples Republic of China. 15 years ago, the country still had the most restrictive population policy on the planet, and then they loosened to a 2-child policy, then a 3-child policy a few months ago, and may even BECOME more pro-natalist than some of the countries in the world with the most acute demographic problems (i.e. Southern Europe/Japan/Korea).

This WAS exactly the same thing with climate change, where 15 years ago china was probably more skeptical than the US, and now there is no longer any debate about climate change in the political, economic or social sphere. This is not to say china is the absolute leader on a per-capita basis when it comes to the green revolution, but the amount of change and emphasis on climate action is absolutely incomparable to any other country at China's income level (I dont think we are doing as much as Denmark/Nordic/UK, but that isnt a fair standard).

Along those lines, I fully expect China to be the first large country to implement UBI (at least the discussion is more serious about HOW to implement, whereas the US its still about whether to do so from an ideological point of view). China has already realized the impact of AI, smart manufacturing, and how it will result in large unemployment and is no longer debating the IF, but the HOW.

If I am reading it correctly, it is very hard to come to a precise conclusion. And it may very well be that majority of the increased fertility is short term in nature, basically just pushing women to have children earlier but not resulting in women having more children than they would otherwise have.

China to Revise Population Law to Reverse Birthrate Decline

Lawmakers in China plan to clear remaining legal barriers to encourage couples to have more children, as the country faces another year of fewer births.

The number of births in China will probably drop for the fifth straight year, falling by more than 1 million this year to a total of about 11 million, Mr. He said. The three-child policy, announced in late May, is unlikely to affect births this year, he said.

In Guiyang, a Chinese city of almost 6 million in southern Guizhou province, the local government reported 21,193 newborns for the first half of the year, down nearly 5% from the same period last year.

Premier Li Keqiang, in a teleconference with cabinet members on Tuesday, urged officials to implement measures to ease financial burdens and social restrictions associated with births and child-rearing, noting population is a “fundamental, comprehensive and strategic issue” to the Chinese nation.

I actually think the mandate ordering all after school coaching/tutoring to become non profit has made the biggest impact in lifting birth rates, because speaking for myself one of my main concerns with raising kids in taiwan and the mainland was the constant study grind environment for kids at the cost of other creative pursuits. It's actually very, very natalist because now there shouldn't be any additional pressure in the 'arms race' of keeping up with the jones' of forcing kids into tutoring.

Now, all of that money that would've been spent heaping pressure and resources into your one kid, could go towards another child, and perhaps a third one as well. You would need one kid to replace mum, one to replace dad and one for the nation for healthy population growth.
