No you didn't say that exactly but I think you implied it when saying China's GDP today is 65x of that in 1980s...Did I say "it has to be proprtional to GDP" ? ... it was statement from yourself, not me
Very obvious GDP is a huge factor when you want to decide something big/expensive ... not the only factor obviously

Alright, perhaps I was misunderstanding you? My point is that China does not need more nuclear weapons for being richer.very interesting logic ... where did you learn that logic?

Yes. The question is whether PLA really need many more nuclear weapons now.cool, but a lot easier for China to develop/produce them when China is richer and more advanced, no?

The problem is exactly that we, as amature China military watchers, know almost nothing about the quality and quantity of Chinese nuclear weapons. Guessing how many more China will need is therefore meaningless in my opinion.Personally I would say yes (based on limited info of Chinese nuke), 260 is way too few. I'd say minimum 1,000 ... who knows China may already have that many ... which I wouldnt be surprised

Apparently the existing nuclear weapons, together with the conventional ones, have held up successfully for China against potential threats. We must reasonably assume that the quality and quantity are adequate in 2016.
If the world in 2017 isn't going to be dramatically worse than in 2016, China wouldn't suddenly need more nukes for no reason.
Yeah he is unpredictable so far. But I am not pessimistic about the Sino-US relationship yet. The stakes are just too high for both sides to sever the relationship. In the years to come, there might be tensions or even stand-offs here and there but overall I am hoping they are still willing to talk to each other at the end.Agree. Trump factor may change that
