Confucius say… Treat American like Reagan did to Soviet Union. Make them spend money to catch-up and they go bankrupt.

He says it didn’t look like it was going to be maneuverable unless they’re going to have TVC. Doesn’t the NGAD have the same problem? I haven’t read if it we’re going to have it or not.

It seems that there is a lot of speculation of the CAC jet having three engines. I think it is only two engines with a bigger space in between than J-20. The nozels may be rectangular which are similar in shape as the central fairing. That gave the impression of a third engine.

A wide spaced twin engine setup is benificial for control (like flanker and Su-57), it becomes necessity for aircraft without canard/vertical stablizer/horizontal stablier.

Also it is absurd to think of a three engine setup, the aircraft is only slightly bigger than a J-20, it only looks big because of the wing-body merged design.

Note that the center engine exhaust is different. It is possible that the side engines have TVC in vertical plane while the center one does not.

Two turbofan engines and one Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)!

Stoa1984's Commentary

Why this false controversy? The Zhuhai exhibition's model clearly shows two turbofan engines and one Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)

, which is consistent with the very distinctive top engine intake documented by yesterday's video footages. It does not show any alleged third turbofan engines/ramjet.

Since we know that 6th gen fighters will be fitted with anti-missile/anti-air defensive electrically driven lasers, the power consumption of such DEW that operates in the orders of several hundreds of kW each can only be supported by an air breathing Auxiliary Power Unit.
