With the purchase, by Argentina, of the of the 12 T-6 Texan and the refurbishment of the 30 IA-58 Pucara (on going). The FAA will now become a turboprop air force.

There are talks with Brazil to purchase an undisclosed number of AT-26 Super Tucano for border patrol duty.

, the Brazilian Navy (Marinha do Brasil) has just decided to decommission its sole aircraft carrier Sao Paulo (hull number A12) acquired from France in 2000. Brazil has long been considering a modernization plan for the aircraft carrier with French naval shipbuilding group DCNS, but according to Estado, "modernization costs were considered excessive by the admiralty".
