Peruvian engineers traveling to Toulouse for the technology transfer program under the contract Perusat-1
(Defensa.com) As part of Perusat-1 program, a first team of 24 engineers and specialists Peruvian Space Agency Peru (CONIDA) have reached the end of April at the headquarters of Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse (France) to begin a program of technology transfer. CONIDA team, made up of both civil and military engineers of different specialties, remain in Toulouse between 9 and 16 months and receive technology transfer and training in the areas of space systems engineering as well as in the development and operation of this technology. As a result, they can operate and maintain the Perusat-1 system, in addition to the ability to independently design its next satellite systems.
Also as part of the program was launched in Toulouse to the transfer of 'know-how' to 64 Peruvian experts are trained in the techniques of application of satellite imagery for mapping the areas of agriculture, forestry and safety; This training will continue in Lima (Peru) in the coming months until 2017.
Airbus Defence and Space was selected in 2014 as the sole prime contractor for the Perusat-1 program. The Perusat-1 system will be delivered fully equipped in 2016 orbit, the same as including an optical-art satellite with an instrument of sub-meter resolution, and a ground segment for the control, reception and processing of images from PerúSAT- 1 and the Pléiades, SPOT 6 and 7, and Tandem TerraSAR-X-X. The program also includes the construction of infrastructure ground segment.
