Doesn't Argentina has a big coast line to explore as well for their own natural gas and petroleum? Since Chile lies on the Pacific and Argentina lies on the Atlantic side of the Ocean I don't see how the two rivals can butt heads in the Antarctic?

It is all due to the overlapping territorial claims by three nation; England, Argentina and Chile. Both English and Chilean claims overlap 100% of those from Argentina. It will be interesting to see what will happen when the Antartic treaty expires in 2020. Please check out my thred in the history section under central and south america rivaly.
