Correct - Prince Harry wore spurs on his boots because he is a "calvary officer" - flies a helicopter. That's a tradition - lots of them in the Brtiish Armed Forces. Some may be surprised to know that RN and their Reserve officers at formal dining-ins toast to HM The Queen sitting down - why? in the old days of sailing ships, the headroom was limited in height, and ever-since the naval officers were given permission to do the Royal Toast sitting down. I believe there are also traditions in th US Armed Forces too - if I am not mistaken those serving helicopter squadrons do wear the old Calavary hats on occassions.

Prince Harry.. He appears to be wearing spurs on his boots..awesome..way beyond cool.

Tks Popeye for the splendid photos including those of Prince Harry at Arlington and the Warrior Games. Harry is a "Warrior Prince" who served in the front lines of Afghanistan. The Royal Family can be proud of him, and so do all f us who know what it takes to be engaged in front-line duties.

[h=2]British Army - Mercian troops train for public disorder in Cyprus[/h]
Dressed like extras from the film Robocop, a group of Reservist soldiers from 4 MERCIAN battle an angry mob outside the long-deserted Nicosia International Airport.

Their mission - to maintain public order and provide security for the United Nations Protected Area (UNPA). The soldiers, performing the role of Mobile Force Reserve (MFR), are honing their skills should they be called upon to do this for real.

Can't promise anything but I live in Southampton, which is about half an hour to 45 minutes away from HMRB Portsmouth, home to a large proportion of the Royal Navy Surface Fleet. I had some photos of the Daring Class and the Ark Royal before it was decommissioned through various tours of the harbour, but I haven't a clue where they are. I'll see if I can find them though. :D

Edit: They've gone missing and I can't find them. :(
