[h=2]Afghanistan - Brimstone disrupt 15kg bomb[/h]
British Soldiers of 36 Royal Engineer Regiment, 49 Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), have one of the most dangerous jobs in Afghanistan. Members of the squadron are part of the Brimstone call sign, a team which neutralises bombs. On a recent tasking, Brimstone disrupted a 15-kilo, radio-controlled device found outside a school in Shawquat. The Afghan National Army spotted the device on a search of the area and called in the aid of Brimstone. 26[SUP]th[/SUP] July 2012

I can only imagine the headaches in paper work for the officers who are assigned to all those neat combat field gadgets and robots, not to mention the maintenance that goes with it. Oh well, whatever it takes to keep these soldiers and civilians safe from IEDs.

British Soldiers train for operations after Afghanistan

A fresh focus is being put on fighting in metropolitan areas as the British Army prepares for operations beyond Afghanistan. The Field Training Unit (FTU) has launched the Urban Operators Instructors Course to drill troops in skills and tactics for environments far removed from the dusty expanses of Helmand province.

In the two-week package at Copehill Down, Service personnel turn their hands to the alternative disciplines under the gaze of experienced assessors. 9[SUP]th[/SUP] August 2012
