[h=2]British Paratroopers make French connection[/h]

British paratroopers have been working alongside French airborne cavalry on a joint exercise to improve their urban fighting skills and develop co-operation between the two armies.

Colchester-based A Company, 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment (3 PARA) has been working with the tanks of the 1er Régiment de Hussards Parachutistes (1er RHP) at Centre d'Entrainement aux Actions en Zone Urbaine (CENZUB) in north east France, the largest urban warfare training facility in Europe.

The training, called Exercise Gaulish Eagle, was designed to provide 3 PARA with experience of urban operations and working with other armies to prepare for its role in the Airborne Task Force (ABTF).

The ABTF is the British Army’s rapid reaction force, held at high readiness to deploy on operations anywhere in the world. The training builds on the two countries' military co-operation following the signing of the Defence and Security Co-operation Treaty by Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy in November 2010.

3 PARA is part of 16 Air Assault Brigade which has been tasked with building a partnership with the French 11e Brigade Parachutiste (11e BP). The two brigades are working towards the formation of a joint expeditionary force for contingency operations.

[h=2]Royal Navy trials new combat uniform[/h]
A new combat uniform for the Royal Navy is being trialled by HMS Daring while on counter-piracy operations in the Gulf.
Sailors on board the new Type 45 destroyer are now wearing a specially-designed dark blue kit in place of the Royal Navy's traditional light blue outfit known as the Number 4 dress. This is the first new uniform to be worn by sailors on operations for 20 years.

The new kit is designed to be much more versatile and adaptable to the different weather conditions that the Royal Navy encounters as it carries out operations around the globe.

Each sailor on board HMS Daring has been issued multiple layers including a t-shirt, shirt, thermal fleece and windproof jacket - all in the new darker colour. The trousers have slanted pockets on the legs so it is easier to use them when sitting down.
The whole uniform has been designed to make it easier to get dressed quickly - something that is essential for those on board ships who may have to be woken up in the event of an incident. The boots have zips as well as laces, and the collar can be turned up and fastened instantly with Velcro rather than fiddling with buttons.

It looks like NATO is adapting to wearing their ranks on the front and center of their unis like the US is doing on their BDU's. I'm not too sure about the berets, they should stick to wearing bill caps, berets looks more for the army and marines type IMO.

note in the last pic that soldier is using a Surefire 900 series foregrip/weapon light.

Are those grips attachable to any kind of weapon in the world or is it just for NATO types?

BRIZE NORTON, ENGLAND - MARCH 20: Mourners react as the cortege carrying the bodies of the six soldiers killed in the worst enemy attack on British troops in
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
since operations began in 2001 passes the Memorial Garden in Carterton on March 20, 2012 near Brize Norton, England. The bodies of Corporal Jake Hartley, 20, Private Anthony Frampton, 20, Private Christopher Kershaw, 19, Private Daniel Wade, 20, Private Daniel Wilford, 21, and Sargeant Nigel Coupe, 33, who were killed when their Warrior armoured vehicle was hit in southern Afghanistan were repatriated to RAF Brize Norton. Their deaths take the total of British military personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001 to 404 and come at a time when the UK government says it remains committed to withdrawing British troops by the end of 2014.

Re: British Military Pic Thread

The 900 series is a COS system that was original made for American M4's using a RIS system so if the weapon has a Mil std Rails It will mount mind you a number of rails are needed too mount it So mounting it on a pistol is out. These days rail systems and Adapters are widely available.
Center of mass insignia was picked up by The US Army as adopted the ACU it but not the USAF, USMC or USN unless wearing Army uniform. It's some thing that came from combat parkas.
