I do wish this vote will be finished , before confrontation between individuals overwhelm the thread.

The result should be put into effect regardless the contents of posts by any members.

How did a thread about nominating a new moderator get so badly off track? Lately I’ve witnessed a very troubling rise of jingoism, fanboism, pointless personal insults, and a marked decrease in civility and objectivity at SDF. Please don’t let this forum turn into another PDF. A

needs to be fixed immediately. This is why we need more moderators, WITH the ability to ban people. If some fear that a mod might abuse the banning privilege, then let the decision to ban someone be put to a vote among mods. Regardless, some cleaning up is overdue at SDF.

And back to the subject at hand: I’m all for Bltizo becoming a mod.

To admit I can only recommend this approach and for others too since we are too few moderators right now - I for myself have too much other ussues to do and I am not active in all threads - but my biggest issue is that some mods can' t do any active moderations since my account is still limited. @webby ... I am not even allowed to post in the mod's corner like giving warnings ...

So it's quite difficult to do that job.

I would like to nominate you as a mod.

Guys give it a rest
These constant rantings, and small hints into certain political or ideological directions are annoying.

These constant rantings, and small hints into certain political or ideological directions are annoying.

So the next one with a personell insulting post or a rude reply against anyone esp. if off-topic will be banned permanently.

At least when @WebMaster restored this ability.

Deino so you can't moderate ? What the ....

If mods can't moderate then why are we voting again ?

Get full access to banning and please start banning and suspending accounts

These fanboys even infiltrated the voting thread !! This is how bad the situation is

How can we run a forum when even in the voting thread we have silly Chinese fanboys de railing the thread ?

Make your list and when you get privileges please permanently ban

Judging by the quality of the posts in this thread, we seriously need some moderation action.

Seriously guys, you support this or don't support this, go VOTE and maybe write 1 post to tell other people what do you think and then MOVE THE FUCK ON.

No need to make freaking multiple post attack other people's position, calling other members nationalist trolls, attacking other's post or telling the story of your life etc...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that include YOU and people on planet earth THAT ARE NOT YOU... aka about 7 billion other humans.

Your opinion is just as valid as other people's opinion and the best way to express this is just vote on it, and after you voted, please stfu and move on.

Enough is enough, this is one of the worst tread I have see on SDF and by this fact alone, we need more moderators.

I would like to issue my utmost support for BLITZO for moderator position.

Although I am mostly a lurker, I read up on SDF very often over the past 11 years and, I have noticed Blitzo to be a qualified, professional and have always admired his quality contributions and level-headed response.

He would be an excellent moderator and it is good to know SDF community fully supports him, REGARDLESS of his ETHNICITY or background.

The moderator position should not be determined based on ETHNICITY, and if anything, we need more Chinese moderators in a Chinese forum to combat trash like "China without Tibet and Xinjiang" immediately.

I want SDF to not be another Pakistan Defense Forum or a Korean Sentry forum. Please no.

Is it possible to elect more than one mods? It seems that some are against Bltizo because he is "pro-China", Insead of bickering, how about propose their non-Chinese candidates? The candidates with the top two most votes will be presented to the Webmaster for approval.

The endless bickering is so exhausting... since it seems everyone agrees that we need more mods, let's get more mods. To get a balance, I propose that we always add 2 new mods, one Chinese origin (Chinese national or otherwise) and one non-Chinese.

About ability to ban and warn members, is it possible to have a committee of mods? Each can issue warning. However, the whole committee has to vote for banning a member? Only majority will allow the banning to be effective. I understand that most of the time, many mods are busy with their own stuff and can't cast their votes. So at least 3 mods have to vote for a ban to be effective.

I'm sure the mods have discussed the possibility of some of the things that I just mentioned. Just wanted to get this out there...

My 2-cent.

Bltizo, you can have my vote. Other than him being well-mannered and professional, one of the key reason that I support Blitzo is that he understands and appreciates the nuance of Chinese military watching.

Since China doesn't release official infos regarding its military very often, there is a great deal of detective work involving tracking and making sense of Chinese military development. One has to analyse unofficial leaks (CCTV programs, shipyard news releases), make sense of often cryptic posts/pictures from big shrimps (PLA insiders) on Chinese forums and filter through western defense watchers' projections (which projections are tailored to meet china threat narrative? which western PLA watchers are essentially China bashers?)

From my interaction with him and my own observation, he doesn't dismiss dissenting opinions on Chinese military development simply as propaganda. Instead he often asks for the sources of those opinions and try to examine them critically in order to assess their reliability. He also doesn't hold western military analysis on China as gospel and labelling anyone who disagrees with them as nationalistic fanboys. As such I believe he is a good candidate for a more balanced mod team.

If anyone still needs to understand Blitzo's tracking record of his PLA watching prowess, I suggest you visit his blog I linked below which contains a great deal of good info on PLA.
