Good luck on the vote Bltizo. We all have some degree of bias on a subject, but I've seen you tackle most, if not all discussions, from a logical perspective. Continuing this approach with moderation can steer us away from Western/Eastern nationalistic posts and only be a good thing for SDF.

Also second your comment on Mod powers. Deino and yourself should have the full ability to warn/suspend/ban and clean up threads. Worth a message to @WebMaster to get that sorted out.

...

I feel I need to add this disclaimer:
personally I don't try to gain anything from this activity! (all I wish here is outlandish posts are removed within several hours, and members who log on to fight are officially told to stop, also within several hours)
...

I saw my name mentioned twice as members' suggestion, so I guess Yesterday at 8:46 AM I should've made it clear my idea concerned Bltizo only, not any other new Mod, especially not me LOL!

but since I called this in, I'll also give reasons why I would NEVER become a Mod, not just here,
but in general:
  1. I work for Government, so I avoid any affiliations with any groups (OK what I do here is
obviously a hobby activity like expressing my amateurish opinions on warships' armament LOL https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/th...-warships-entering-service.t8175/#post-475500 as one out of almost ten thousand other users, but a moderation is something else, and I have no idea whose business the SDF is, who monitors it, etc.), plus
  2. I have no clue what I would then do about individuals whom I now ignore (either by automatic setting or voluntarily)!
I realized also this:
  • I think there would be no need for TWO new Mods if Bltizo became active, and
  • to be a Mod, it's much more demanding than I previously thought, one thing is AS A USER to say like 'what a bunk!' or to cry 'permaban!', but AS A MOD to do something sensible about some bunk or about an obnoxious user, well, that's a completely different story
actually I felt "burned-out" yesterday in the evening, after I had been lurking several times during the afternoon here to see if somebody sent me to Hell already, or the thread was ignored, or whatever ...

by the way as of now

This is totally OT, but I have always meant to ask, how did someone from a landlocked country get interested in naval matters? More than air force and army.

I voted yes for Blitzo for mod... Does this mean Blitzo can finally update his name so the I and T are in the right place?

I too agree that we need more mods. All the irrelevant bickering is getting so bad to the point that I no longer want to go to those threads any more... We need to stop this now. More mods definitely help!

I agree that Bltizo is an excellent choice for a new mod. I don't think his own political/national incline matters. No one is unbiased. Everyone has their own opinion on things. As long as he can referee the forum in a fair manner and does not allow his moderation to be influenced by his own bias, that is what counts. Jeff and Popeye are excellent examples of this. They are clearly biased because they are clearly pro-US. Yet, they have not allowed their own opinion to influence their moderation. I believe Bltizo can do it too.
I think important for a eventual new mod know her nationality, for Popeye, Jeff mentionned on profile and they talked about it very clearly as you.
Don' t appear, never i have see Blitzo's nationality and surely 95+ % of members as me ignore.

Why is nationality relevant to moderation competency?

It's not. As another poster just said, the quality of ones posts is a vastly more important qualifier vs post counts. Blitzo has been a member since 2008 and has presented an even handed, rational temperament. Good enough for me. There are also personal security considerations for some people depending on the country they live in. It's not exactly internet etiquette to demand personal info.

There are two things concerning being a MOD. Posting his/her own personal opinion in a subject and being a MOD to regulate the discussion of the subject. How to handle the two things is a challenge. The personal opinion of the MOD is one thing unrelated to the authority of the MOD. MOD should only exercise his/her authority to warn and ban other members and delete posts that violated the written rules, equally regardless his/her own opinion on the subject.

It is not easy for any individual. To be honest, I have witnessed multiple times that some MOD here put his personal opinion of a subject (favoring one side of the argument) in the blue text moderation post which is supposed to stop misconduct from both sides' of argument. That is not acceptable at all to me.

From my past experience with Bltizo in this forum, I am convinced that Bltizo is a person able to uphold the principle that I believe in.

I have casted my "yes" to this vote and wish Bltizo to take up this honor and carry on a good job as MOD.

One thing I want to add to "how to run this Forum" is that I would prefer the forum to refrain from banning people or to keep that to an absolute minimum. Most of us should be able to ignore "heated" words out of a heightened moment of emotion. But of course, repeatedly insulting other members being "moron, idiot or disgusting" is over the limit and should be expelled from this forum.
