another reason I've been a bit reticent towards being a moderator, is because from what Deino has told me, moderators do not have the ban abilities that they once did (or at least which I expected them to have), meaning moderator threats to get back on topic etc are often empty.

I'm not sure which moderators on SDF have the ability to ban people unilaterally, but if the inability fo rmods to ban people is still an issue, then I don't see how having new moderators will help anyone.

I fully agreed. Not only that Forbin makes a conniving comment privately to me and I've reported it and yet NOTHING has been done as far as disciplining that member. And now he is being consider as a moderator is a total slap in the face to this SDF forum.

I would quit this forum (and for sure many others too) if the brave @FORBIN were promoted to be a moderator .. it would be a very very sad day for this respected forum :(:(:(

@Bltizo is perfect choice ... I supported him to be a moderator way back and I always do

I would like to remind members of this forum that this is SINO defence forum, i.e.: a forum whose primary purpose is to discuss CHINESE military matters.

I have no issue with discussion of other nation's military forces, but considering the focus of this forum based in its title and its content, as a user of this forum -- and especially back when I first made an account here late last decade -- I expected the moderators to also be sensitive towards issues that would facilitate discussion about Chinese military matters and China related topics in the main threads.

I also believe that having a diverse moderator team is not a bad thing, but I also believe that the moderator team for this specific forum, needs to have a heavy representation of individuals who are aware of the ins and outs of discussing Chinese military matters and China related matters as well.

That includes being aware of which China related topics are more likely to result in flamewars and disturb the role of this forum as primarily one for productively discussing China related military topics, as well as setting standards for what is and is not considered legitimate thresholds for reliability regarding Chinese military related sources and topics.

If one wants to go to other forums to discuss Chinese military matters in the context of many other nation's military matters where all are equal and have equal representation, one can go to defence talk or key forums or what not, where the moderators there likely have a more equal representation to better reflect the topics that they tend to discuss.

Gentlemen, We need to get back to the matter at hand.
Over the years our moderation team has suffered a number of losses. The most recent being BD Popeye who has been our long standing top watchdog, With Jeff Head being our second most vigilant however, Our Friend Jeff has a serious illness that often prevents him from being able to fulfill his duties. God bless him I hope for his health.

We have also a number of "Moderators and Staff" in the staff who have disappeared over the years, Finn McCool, Gollevainen, swimmerXC. nothing against these individuals however this means that our actual moderator ranks are thin by my count we have 6 active moderators ( counting Jeff) for over 5,000 conversations. and 9,000 Members.
Since Blitzo has been asked in the past and is a member in good standing I approve of his Knighting. May God have Mercy on his Soul.

this forum has to be fair, has to keep in check anti-western feelings as well anti-Chinese or anti-Japanese or anti any nationality, respect should be given to any human regardless of nationality.

Jeff in that is good, he has kept the anti-western bias down

I have no disagreement with that, however there are certain specific topics which simply should not be allowed to be discussed, and are alluded to in SDF's forum rules.

For example, the recent thread by abc123 about China without tibet and xinjiang is a thread which should have been closed the moment the first post was made, because it should have been obvious immediately that such a thread will not be able to be conducted in anything near a civil manner.

This forum is the best defense forum in the world, well moderated and many expert members here. Why would you think this is "Anti Western" forum ?

I support this, the current mod is doing a good job overall, but lets be honest, there is a certain amount of bias in them sometimes. There were post that were deleted which should not be deleted that didn't fit mod's view etc...

Bltizo also goes by another username on Reddit and he is well respected by many when it came to Chinese matters, so I vote for him, his expertise would greatly contribute to the forum.
