As I said previously it requires maturity and more importantly character to engage in civil conversation like politics. You reflect none of those traits.
You're the least person here fit to lecture anyone about maturity and character. You hide your rancid worldview behind pretensions of "civility" and would love - in your fantasies - that everyone just accept it and not challenge its core suppositions. Sorry, the Unipolar Moment has ended; you don't get to dictate what is and isn't considered civil any longer. I have no interest in your concocted and hypocritical standards of civility, I'm here to tear whited sepulchres down.

You are responding so venomously because of being called out.
Oh, but I wasn't actually called out. You just tried to deceitfully present a snippet of a much larger work to paint a picture of me as a know-nothing loudmouth. You didn't actually quote and alert me because you well know that anyone capable of writing what I actually wrote is fully capable of defending himself and his positions. And it wouldn't take much to defend myself, really - just linking to the full post made every point I wanted to make.

I'll leave it for the reader to decide what that makes of you and your character.

You just don't get it.
I get it just fine; this and many other things. It seems, however...

This is a rule based forum. All members are expected to conduct themselves according to the rules.
that you're the one who just doesn't get it. This sort of pedantry doesn't fool anybody anymore. The rules also state that one shouldn't spam threads with off-topic inanities, yet you did just that in the thread of mine you cherry-picked that quote from. It appears others should "conduct themselves according to the rules." Physician, heal thyself.

A piece of advice for everyone: if a poster's content bothers you to the point that you find yourself writing a post just to rebuke them, it's time to put them on your ignore list.

I placed Brumby on my ignore list a long time ago. It's not worth your time to reply to such nonsense.

Sound advise , especially if you are trying to have a debate with someone who thinks the sunshine out of the backside on one side, where as on the other side, they are all devils in disguise!

The rules here are overly restrictive. The closure of Trade war thread is wholly unwarranted.

No it is not and I promise You to go on even stricter.

If you don't like this, then go ahead and contact webmaster, since actually I have the feeling the few moderators are alone, alone with this mess where certain members only want to spread their agenda, to self-promote their ego and opinion and we can only try to put out water with a spoon in a desperately singling ship.

in all honest, I'm actually sad, desperate and even angry why we do not get the deserved assistance, why we do not get the long promised moderators and again I'm thinking about severe consequences. The only thing that holds me back is that i like this forum so much.

....

Or another advice, just report and delete what You wrote before posting!

A real issue is that we moderators only get aware of a certain mess going on, when it's already too late. For example the closed trade war thread was already burning for about 20 posts, no-one reported but all where complaining and rebutting the previous post ... and right after a closed it I was accused - strangely from both sides - even with the argument I did not contribute anything meaningful, so I would not have any right to moderate.

Mmm… I like this forum very much too. So far, this is the best place to keep up to date with Chinese developments, military AND non-military. But why is it so hard to enlarge the pool of moderators? I think we have many members that can fill these shoes. And once we have more moderators, then it'll be easier to create sub-forums that cater to non-military matters, for example geo-politics, and what not.

Actually I don't know ... I'm not 100% sure anymore but we already agreed more than a year ago who could and would help us and we got the promise they would be installed or promoted soon. Nothing happened since then

Obviously, the actual owners of the site have largely abandoned us to our own devices, which, unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about.

Deino, please be assured we value your services, and thanks for sticking with us.
No one is having a go at the mods.

It just that the trade war is very topical at the moment, and this being an American forum about all things interesting from China. Its little wonder the trade war thread is so popular. Its about two countries that we, the members have the most interest in.

Now, with regards to the recent trade war thread, I thought the thread was pretty civil (it just my opinon, and I could be wrong), compare with other forums. I meant no one was really angry with other posters. And we were discussing, by and large, amongst the "believers" anyway
Ok, it did get political (I'm not trying to justify that here). But a little let off should be ok if no one is offended.
Particularly, when is so little happening in other threads.
Just my two cents, please don't take it I'm having a dig or anything, like I said earlier, I value you work and judgement.
Regards
