What is the current state of the Chinese talent pool for UFC, K1, etc? Martial arts are rapidly gaining popularity amongst young adults but I'm not seeing an influx of competitors to match its growth as a hobby. Lord knows we need some strong Asian male representation and role models in media.

Isn't the current UFC welterweight woman champ a Chinese woman? If you want to see strong Asian male representation just look at China's olympic lifts team. Probably why western sponsors want to remove the event, using PED as a excuse.

The layman isn't really gonna be keeping up with the Olympic weighlifting team unless they follow socials or it's Olympics season. However, there's bascially always events running for martial arts. Variety is also good. Beefcakes, bears, lean are all physiques trained for different functions and levels of performance.

In the current atmosphere, Asians are increasingly being discriminated against and let's be honest, tons are super passive and refuse to stand up for themselves. From personal experience, taking martial arts really improved my confidence and helped me with being assertive. Gotta whip these nerds into shape and teach them to grow a spine.

The only Chinese champion in the UFC is Zhang Weili, in the women's strawweight division. There is no welterweight division for women. The heaviest is featherweight.

China has its own fight tournaments that also attract foreign competitors. Rarely can the best Chinese fighters crack the top ten of any UFC division. There is a lack of emphasis on grappling and wrestling.
