Maybe a strange question, but does anyone know when exactly we saw this model of the Shanghai JNCX shipyard first? I remember it was long before any meaningful work was done there, but I want to be sure when this exhibition was! And even more is there a better image available?

Yes, it was 2008 when they announced that they were moving to new site on Changxin island. The old site of the shipyard was to be built for 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

The image in #1101 above by Deino was posted by me a long long time ago when a demo module of a section of aircraft carrier (supposely 002) was sighted on Changxin yard.

You have to keep this in mind: in 2008 the layout of CV-18 Fujian/003 CATOBAR was already roughly defined. So 16 years before the first shipyard test drive!

I have a doubt: did the USA send Typhoon missile launchers to the Philippines because their ships are continuously tracked by Chinese satellites (especially the geostationary IMINT ones) and threatened by ASBM missiles more or less constantly? Making their use very difficult in case of war. To track those missile launchers, which honestly seem very clumsy to me (do the USA still have to learn that mobility is essential even for strategic systems now?), the Chinese must instead engage their drones like the WZ-7 or leo recon satellites.

Is that the UAV+USV+UUV test platform seen on a tender offering from September 2022?

Though, by referring to the Bosha 1 and Bosha 2 drone mothership test platforms just next to the small flat-deck, which are 80 meters long and 35 meters wide - For a 200-meter long test platform, that small flat-deck in the satellite photo looks to be too short.

Also, the article mentioned of catamaran hull and the absence of a hangar deck (or if any, a very low-celling one) for the small flat-deck. I'm seriously inclined to take this as a new type/model of drone mothership test platform, albeit (likely) a different one from the ones mentioned in that September 2022 tender offering.

I'm not able to find thread/discussion about that stealthy looking test ship that's making rounds on twitter
