Their 7b model is now under Apache 2 license, huge news!

SOTA in a lot of benchmarks so far. Love this as it will force Western govts to not ban open source AI models because if they do, China will simply eat up the market.

In any case, big advancement from Qwen 1.5. and I am sure that internally they have better/bigger models. This way they can utilise the AI community to aid their R&D efforts Llama-style

I find that the people most impressed by large language models are the liberals/leftists because they can be perfectly simulated by a chat bot. Both are talking complete nonsense while being utterly convinced that they are right.

For example I recently asked ChatGPT to give me a mathematical function that includes the gamma function and evaluates to 24.4. Not only where the answers not even close, at one point it claimed that 24.4 is not a positive real number. Then it gave me a python snippet to prove its function's correctness, but the program produced a value of about 4.9. ChatGPT doesn't even evaluate its own output.

The difference between a chat bot and a liberal is that the bot will always apologize profusely when I point out an error.
This actually sounds like a certain nationality. I'm going to quickly ask it why the Tejas is the best aircraft, brb.

Of course, it’s quite possible that alibaba tweaked its models to do better on the various evaluation platforms. Since it is now made Available on different platforms, we will see if it performs as well as llama
