I recommend that people watch the video, the robot dog moves like no robotic or living creature that I have ever seen. What a difference a software makes. Make me think that future humanoid robots are going to be walking very differently from humans.

I'm just glad no one here questions the need for humanoid robots. Detractors always go like this: China has millions of cheap people and labor and they are smarter than any robot.

Jiuzhang Yunji completed 300 million yuan in financing to accelerate the implementation of multi-modal large model industry

Jiuzhang Yunji recently completed a D1 round of financing worth 300 million yuan. China Electronics Group's China Electronics Smart Fund, Huamin Investment, China Taiping's Taiping Innovation, Zhejiang Oriental's Dongfang Jiafu, Zhuoyuan Capital, etc. participated in this round of financing.
In June 2023, Jiuzhang Yunji announced the upgrade of its product system and released multiple products such as DataCanvas Alaya Jiuzhang Yuanshi large model and DingoDB multi-mode vector database, forming the "AIFS artificial intelligence basic software" and "DataPilot data navigator" product systems . So far, Jiuzhang Yunji has successfully realized the product layout that builds the enterprise's "large + small" model capabilities.
It is reported that Jiuzhang Yuanshi not only includes various choices of configurations and parameters, but is also provided to users in a "white box" form, which allows users to gain maximum autonomy while accessing the technical capabilities of large models.
According to Jiuzhang Yunji news, the company has established an intelligent computing center, which will provide users with integrated "algorithm + computing power" services based on the advantages of basic artificial intelligence software products. In the future, Jiuzhang Yunji will focus on customers' artificial intelligence upgrade needs, implement the "cloud within the cloud" strategy, fully deploy the construction of computing power, and accelerate the implementation of multi-modal large model industry.

Microsoft has lost money on one of its first generative AI products, said a person with knowledge of the figures. It and Google are now launching AI-backed upgrades to their software with higher price tags.

Zoom has tried to mitigate costs by sometimes using a simpler AI it developed in-house. Adobe and others are putting caps on monthly usage and charging based on consumption.
“A lot of the customers I’ve talked to are unhappy about the cost that they are seeing for running some of these models,” said Adam Selipsky, the

, Amazon Web Services, speaking of the industry broadly.
The most important point:
AI often doesn’t have the economies of scale of standard software because it can require intense new calculations for each query. The more customers use the products, the more expensive it is to cover the infrastructure bills. These running costs expose companies charging flat fees for AI to potential losses.
Microsoft used AI from its partner OpenAI

It has also been a money loser because it is so expensive to run.

“Next year, I think, is the year that the slush fund for generative AI goes away,” Habib said.

If Chinese companies are to succeed where Silicon Valley is struggling, they must completely understand their business models.

Its kind of interesting you don't hear environmentalist talk about the energy needs for AI while they all went herp derp with crypto's energy needs...Yeah i get the use case is different and AI is a bit more productive and useful for humanity but i still find it kind of funny.

If there is one thing i hope this AI "revolution" will do is make code framework documentation a lot better for machines to query, so hopefully LSP(Language servers) can be extended to also help developers without making a network round trip.

I think Chinese AI companies are using AI mostly for industrial usage where it might find flaws earlier in machinery operations so it can fixed earlier or find production flaws. I think it was Huawei c-suite person that said AI in china will be 5% consumer based and 95% industrial based.
