Yan Ning and others are just trying to future proof the job security of structural biologists. Unfortunately for them, AI will eventually be able to do everything and anything. It's just a matter of time.

Interesting. Anyone got info about the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence?
Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence is the institute that is working on Wu Dao 2.0, which was mentioned in this forum before by some users as China's ChatGPT-4 equivalent or better.

Also you guys remember that one Chinese university that released their ChatGPT AI model for public usage, but crashed because of high traffic?

I was looking around in Github trending recently and found that they made their model open-source:

I would not say that one model is better than the other one because frankly I did not use WuDao 2.0 at all. However, WD 2.0 became multimodal before the GPT-4 so it is the reverse actually - GPT-4 is OpenAI's answer to WuDao 2.0.

Well, not according to this guy. He's quite dismissive of anything coming out of China. No chance for Chinese tech giants to catch up lol. Do you know why and where he's getting this opinion from?

A random CS undergrad?

The hopium is strong in this list, if he was 8 years older he would have been on the metaverse hype train 2~3 years ago then step over onto the chatgpt train. Just remember what they said about Chinese solar panels 15 years ago, what they said about Chinese EV cars 5 years ago. If i was a betting man i would put my money on China stealing the US AI lunch money.

What i do see is that regarding hype Chinese companies really are chaser not really pushers. Probably because Chinese tech doesn't really travel outside of China and they don't have a massive global social media network to push a certain narrative.
