In a low Interest Rate environment a lot of these companies are prop up by the hype of the investors looking to put cheap money over cheap money giving the appearance of a successful company and the only thing a CEO needs to do is to hype their money losing company, but now that IR are a high, cheap money is less cheap, when hype is now not enough meme stocks get hammer. There is still hype for some things, for example there is a lot of hype for Nvidia because of course they have the absolute control of the AI ecosystem, their stock when through the roof. Now everything will depend whatever their competition can catch up or if they get banned from selling a big market like China, allow their competition in China to take some market share and create an alternative ecosystem.Softbank rescued of WeWork is one of the most foolish investment decisions. Son allowed his pride to get in the way of sound business decision. WeWork should have failed many years ago.
You spent the time to find the song. Might as well go see the movie too. He's prolly been listening a lot to this classic Barbie song from Aqua:
That is an entirely realistic fear, since the trust fund that pays out the SS benefits is supposed to run out sometime next decade meaning benefits won't be fully funded without politically painful changes. Unfortunately, SS in the US is the definition of a ponzi scheme since it relies on the taxes paid by current workers to fund the benefits for those no longer working. When there were tons of workers and few people made it to retirement age, let alone spend much time collecting benefits the trust fund swelled with surplus since the taxes drawn exceeded the payouts. Unsurprisingly with longer lifespans and fewer working age people, the payouts will exceed the income from taxes drawn resulting in the trust fund drawing down cover the difference after which you can only pay the benefits afforded by the taxes collected. It is crazy to think that if they had invested that money in something other then US treasuries lol, what a windfall they would have.Retirees are taking their social security as they are fearful of social security would run out soon.
