US births have increased compared to 2021 and what's even more, they are increasingly to mothers with college educations

Births in 2021
January: 277,000
February: 266,000
March: 302,000
Total 1st quarter 2021: 845,000

Births in 2022
January: 294,000 (+6.1%)
February: 275,000 (+3.4%)
March: 306,000 (+1.3%)
Total 1st quarter 2022: 875,000 (+3.6%)

Meanwhile, births in China declined 12% Y/Y in 2021 vis-a-vis 2020 with early provisional data from 2022 suggesting a similar Y/Y drop.

US total births 2021: 3.7M
China total births 2021: 10.6M

At the current rate of China's births dropping in double digit percentages each year but US births increasing in small increments each year, 3.7(1.036)^x = 10.6(1-.12)^x, in 7 years, the number of births in the US will exceed the number of births in China; 4.7 million to 4.3 million

The same thing happened in Europe. People assumed that lockdowns with people spending more time at home would mean fertility rates would rise. Lots of articles reporting on an expected baby boom.

Now the data is out and it turns out the opposite happened. Lockdowns caused fertility rates to plummet. That's from a pretty low baseline as well.
