They are redefining what is a man/woman..

They have redefined GDP (adding fake shit like imputed rents that pad 15%)

They have redefined CPI (ground beef substituting steaks etc and cherry picking to fake lower inflation numbers)

So not surprising they are redefining recession...

By the same metric of GDP, CPI and recession as applied in the 90s, the USA has been in recession since 2008 and never got out of it
I can only imagine how much Trump is gonna win by a landslide in 2024. His delusions of grandeur is gonna make the average Murican have a collective orgasm on the spot. Their are gonna look upon him like a crackhead holding on to his last remaining syringe before OD'ing.

Blows my mind people are actually debating if two quarters of negative GDP growth is considered a recession.
It's the global standard, in every textbook and economics course. Technical recession or not, it's still a recession.

I do understand they want to gaslight the American public and shore up consumer confidence. But America is too politically divided for it to ever be successful.
It's called western copium

China +4.8% +0.4% = economic collapse

Amerikkka -1.6%, -0.9% = everything is fine

Problem is there isnt much they can do other than try to hide the symptoms...

This is like an Olympic bodybuilding champ that no longer had supply of steriods and no matter how much harder he worked out he was still going to atrophy... so he turned to photoshop instead

Cheap and plentiful sweet crude (convention oil of the quality grade yielding high threshold of EROEI) was the steriod that was pumping up and enabling the artificial multiplier effects of American profits, productivity and economic growth. Those were the easy days of just showing up to the gym and you would grow muscle without barely even trying because the roids were doing most of the work

Take away this supply of cheap and abundant high density energy sources and there is no where for the economy to go but down.... esp with China being a peer competitor and upending the US free ride of petrodollar hegemony where America basically collected mafia protection money on the rest of the entire world

American cities, the suburbs, the car culture, the business and eCONomic models themselves, etc its all structured to depend on the prequisite of perpetual cheap access to high density high EROEI energy sources, much more than say Chinese cities or Chinese civilization....

Now they have fallen deep inside the abyss of the Energy Trap with no way to dig or bootstrap themselves back out....
And China is not going to save them this time around (Not that China could even if it wanted to)

It's actually a $280 billion bill.

There is also about $200 billion for scientific research, including $81 billion for the National Science Foundation, $10 billion for regional technology hubs and $68 billion for the Department of Energy.
America always spends more than everyone but recently, it gets little to nothing. The spending is empty, like the Soviets always trying to build the biggest of everything despite having no need for it just to look like it's ahead. This is the bully seeing his former victim hit the gym 4 hours a day getting stronger every session so he responds by saying he'll go for 6 hours... except he's literally spending time there texting his friends, taking 8 minutes between sets, drinking $12 shakes and taking mirror selfies without his shirt on. America's efforts in science are anemic compared to China's and that was before Trump made his fatal mistake. Now Americans have no idea what to do seeing China move so fast by itself. They're making redundant worthless alliances and printing money throwing big numbers hoping to cover their problems because at the core, they cannot and do not have the personel or the culture to train the personel to compete with China. This money is America putting a bandaid on a broken arm.
China is sh*** in its pants right now. It was already badly, badly behind in basic research spending,
The West always projects its own insecurities onto China: when their economy is in trouble, they say China's economy is in trouble; when they make unprofessional flights to instigate trouble, they say they were intercepted unprofessionally; when they're shitting their pants because they have no idea how to stop China from out-innovating them despite already spending massive amounts more, they say China's shitting its pants. Meanwhile, China's just working hard outgrowing everyone as usual.
this will put the difference in light years.
When an adult uses "light years" to describe something with no relevence to astronomy it's hallmark of an ignorant person with no concept of distance or time, and who is also prone to extreme exaggeration, likely due to desperation.
Pretty much game over, honestly.
It is. With America languishing in internal problems (racial/political division, receding economy, plague, and self-inflicted Ukraine issues) and all off its responses as desperate and unfruitful in the face of China's new, Trump-fueled scientific drive making progress at a pace unseen in human history, it's over. The future is Chinese.

For sure, for sure. But none of that matters to the average Trump supporter Murican anymore, the cognitive dissonance is so extreme, their house could be on fire, but as long as their demigod is in the Oval Office, they will tell themselves otherwise.

Its like that drug addicted mom in the movie Requiem of Dream, who walks in a state of delirea, frantically trying to get to the TV studio to get her 15 min of fame:
