Aircraft Carriers III

In addition to the Ford and its trials, the US Navy also launched (in April) the USS Tripoli, LHA-7. This is the second America class and sister ship to the America, LHA-6, which has already been delivered.

Air centric. Now well deck. It can do air assault very nicely with helos and Opsreys, but has also been designed to be a Sea Control, or pure CAS carrier with up to 20 F-35Bs stationed on deck to do that role.

Nice looking. The Ford grabbed the headlines and the lime light...but you can bet other nations see that the US is building up its own carrier capability fairly quickly. One of these with 20 F-35Bs and some sort of AEW capability, would be the match for almost any other carrier available.

Idealy... a V-22 AEW variant not also capable than a E-2C/D but still decent.

Yes...I have called on an AEW variant of the V-22 fr years. it just makes such good sense...and the builders have a design already ready to go...someone just needs to contract for it.

No it would not be as powerful as an E-2C/D, ut it would be far better than a helicopter solution. COuld fly higher and has more room and capacity for stronger electronics and radars.

The US will have the most vessels to benefit from it. All of the LHDs and LHAs could use it, and ti would be a nice compliment for an E-2D if ever needed.

But you can be sure that the south Koreans (2 x Dokdo), the Japanese (2 X Hyuga and 2 x Izumo), Spain (1 x carrier), Italy (2 x Carrier), Australia (2 x Canberra), India (3 x carriers), and probably Turkey (1 or 2 x LPH), and others would all climb on board that wagon. That would be sixteen right there, and perhaps Egypt would put them on their two Mistrals too.

Yes...this would look nice:

Looks like the carrier, a Ticonderoga cruiser, three US BUrkle DDGS, the South Korean Se Jong DDG (which is as powerful as the Ticonderoga cruiser, and actually carrier more weapons), and the other SKOR DDG, a KDX-II I believe.

Powerful carrier strike group...very powerful.

And you know there is at least one US SSN, if not two, there as well.
Korean destroyers SEJONG THE GREAT & YANG MANCHUN

I have a doubt and checking it is a KD-I but despite the KD-III is a beast with many missiles the KD-II in more 6 in service the double is a very capable combattant with a big gun, 72 missiles a RAM 2 helos... ! but no AEGIS like.

The KD-I is in fact a FFG.

Without going too in détails size target etc... a E-2 detect to 500 km, 600 the D AEW helos Ka-31 and Sea King Asac7 150 km vs 5 m2 then 3 times less remains very helpfull coz ships radar range is limited the curve of the earth, to consider also the CAP location betwee ennemy and ships surely about 200 km for US CVN ?

Surely British would have had les problems with Sea King AEW helo during Falklands War the first proto get ready in september 1982 about arrive after.

The Ark Royal retired before had Gannet AEW, radar range about a Sea King, wanna use this ship/CAW a day for a what if in a wargame i have :)
