if you referred to me as "Chief" (LOL I've heard some other names in Hong Kong Thread recently), I say the Pentagon should've had them (F-35Bs) on time like in let's say 2014 to be a factor in then-South China Sea

A couple of shots of HMS Prince of Wales R09 docked at Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth, to refuel and replenish before resuming Sea Trials. Invergordon used to be an important Naval base in the first half of the 20th Century and earlier, nowadays it's mostly commercial these days supporting the North Sea Oil industry and as a stop off for Cruise Liners:

FLASH - FIRST UK F35B LIGHTNING HAS LANDED ON R08 HMS QE - SUNDAY 13 OCT 19 - MORE RN & UK CARRIER HISTORY IS MADE ON THIS DAY
Our source at USMCAS Beaufort confirmed that several UK F35B Lightnings departed the base earlier today with the aim of landing aboard R08 HMS Queen Elizabeth off the US South Carolina Coast at sometime after 1430Z 13 Oct 19. This is the first time a UK owned F35B has landed aboard a QE class carrier, and indeed the first time a UK F35B has landed aboard any aircraft carrier. Another very significant and key milestone in UK Carrier Enabled Power Projection (UK CEPP) generation has been achieved - another first in RN aircraft carrier history
