Its off topic, but the real confusion for people from the UK and Europe comes in bars. In restaurants you should tip the wait staff 10-15% in cash if the service is decent in the UK (if its not then nothing should be expected). But in US bars where you have table service it gets confused for UK punters. We usually go to the bar for drinks, and no tip is expected there (buying the barman a drink is very unusual unless its your local and you know them well) consequently no-one is sure what is expected. In many US states allow the wait staff to be paid less than minimum wage because of tipping. Restaurants know how much a good wait staff should receive in tips. I have no idea how this started.
As far as tipping outside of the US I know in Mexico and the Philippines tips are EXPECTED from Americans.
I hope the ship gets underway and conducts OPS as expected. However...there is a Hurricane bearing down on the East Coast of the US.
However I know I saw a video where she was loaded up with humanitarian supplies just in case she may have to assist in any disaster relief efforts during the hurricane season.
The situation is changing, taxi drivers in the age of Uber are less likely to get cash tips but more young people will tip in restaurants.
