Aircraft Carriers III

In many US states allow the wait staff to be paid less than minimum wage because of tipping. Restaurants know how much a good wait staff should receive in tips. I have no idea how this started.

As far as tipping outside of the US I know in Mexico and the Philippines tips are EXPECTED from Americans.

I hope the ship gets underway and conducts OPS as expected. However...there is a Hurricane bearing down on the East Coast of the US.

However I know I saw a video where she was loaded up with humanitarian supplies just in case she may have to assist in any disaster relief efforts during the hurricane season.
Its off topic, but the real confusion for people from the UK and Europe comes in bars. In restaurants you should tip the wait staff 10-15% in cash if the service is decent in the UK (if its not then nothing should be expected). But in US bars where you have table service it gets confused for UK punters. We usually go to the bar for drinks, and no tip is expected there (buying the barman a drink is very unusual unless its your local and you know them well) consequently no-one is sure what is expected.
The situation is changing, taxi drivers in the age of Uber are less likely to get cash tips but more young people will tip in restaurants.

will be landing on the deck of the Royal Navy’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier, the HMS Queen Elizabeth, when the ship arrives at Patuxent, Maryland, for scheduled flight trials.

The HMS Queen Elizabeth, which left its home port of Portsmouth, England, on Aug. 18, is expected to kick off nearly eight weeks of flight trials for the new F-35B sometime in September.

But U.S. Marine Maj. Michael Lippert, an F-35B test pilot at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, will not be the first to touch down on Britain’s new carrier. That honor will go to Royal Navy Cdr. Nathan Gray and Royal Air Force Sq. Ldr. Andrew Edgell, both are test pilots with the Pax River Integrated Test Force, according to Connie Hempel, a spokeswoman with Pax River ITF.

For two phases of the flight trials “the Pax River ITF team plans to perform a variety of flight maneuvers and deck operations to develop the F-35B operating envelope on Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) carriers,” Hempel said in an email to Marine Corps Times. “They will evaluate jet performance on over 200 test points during different weather and sea conditions as well as the aircraft’s integration with the ship.”

The crew at Pax River has been hard at work during the month of August preparing for the landing and flight trials aboard the Queen Elizabeth.

The Queen Elizabeth is currently ported in Mayport, Florida, following her maiden transatlantic voyage, but is expected to head back to sea soon.

conduct following the Florida port visit and one was even tased by local police.

A third phase of flight trials is scheduled for 2019. “Together, the tests will help the U.K. Ministry of Defence reach F-35B initial operating capability (maritime) in 2020,” Hempel said.

The 2019 trials are scheduled to be carried out aboard HMS Prince of Wales R09 which is due to start sea trials by the middle of next year. HMS Queen Elizabeth is due to return to drydock at that time so she can have her hull re certified. PoW is on course for completion on time as things stand.42469773921_4a82ff33c0_k.jpg DemRVUvWsAEKTjt.jpg

Marine F-35B pilot will land on Royal Navy’s hotshot new aircraft carrier

I knew! observe!

U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Michael Lippert and Peter Wilson, F-35 test pilots at the Patuxent River Integrated Test Force (ITF), conduct night field carrier landing practices Aug. 30, 2018, at NAS Patuxent River in preparation for the First of Class Flight Trials (Fixed Wing) on HMS Queen Elizabeth.

During two FOCFT (FW) phases, held back-to-back this fall, the Pax River ITF team plans to perform a variety of flight maneuvers and deck operations to develop the F-35B operating envelope on United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth Class carriers. A third FOCFT (FW) phase followed by operational testing is scheduled for 2019. Together, the tests will help the U.K. Ministry of Defence reach F-35B initial operating capability (maritime) in 2020.

HMS QE UPDATE - 12 SEP 18
It is clear now that HMS QE’s dedicated week planned for warm water trials in the Caribbean area after departing Mayport have been cancelled. Some data was obtained during the few days before arriving at Mayport and this has lead to a decision to postpone any further such trials for the time being. The ship also needs some essential spares which should be arriving today, Wednesday. The main focus is now on starting the essential UK F35B FOCFT off Pax River, Virginia from 22 Sep 18 as previously planned.

While there is concern aboard as to the possible effects of Hurricane Florence on the Norfolk naval base, where the QE must pick up F35 trials equipment and personnel, this is being monitored and contingency plans put in place to load said cargo nearby should it prove necessary. Presently the F35 trials equipment has been held at Pax River airbase away from the navy base to minimise the risk of Hurricane damage or subsequent inaccessibility.

It is understood QE will depart Mayport now by Thursday 13 Sept for a few days sailing and monitoring Hurricane activity, prior to sailing direct for Norfolk to arrive as soon as Florence has past in the next few days.

She will be loaded with the ITF F35 trials equipment and up to 200 F35 trials personnel and head out offshore in readiness for the first F35B landing from 22 Sep.

Let’s all hope Norfolk is not badly affected by the hurricane.

you really can't even call it news anymore, and the libby's don't care, they don't want the truth, they have an agenda,,, but mark my words, the Queen launching and recovering F-35 Bravos, well you probably will be lucky to see a few lines on this in the lame stream media?? sad, but true
