Delighted to announce we have safely transited the pond and are proceeding alongside Mayport Florida for our first port call on to re-supply before beginning final preps for

yeah but it took them like two weeks
a USN CVGB would've been there in half of that time (or less if needed)

What's the Hurry? It's the tail end of summer, the Captain and crew probably just wanted to enjoy the voyage!
I remember when I served on CVA-67 we transited the Atlantic between 12 and 16 knots. That's a slow grind in either case for the RN and USN.
It just takes a while in either case.I know in the USN case we conducted some limited flight ops on the way to the MED aboard CVA-67 & CV-66. Perhaps this page will give all of you some idea how long transit times are.
I'm sure you can figure out how to navigate. It is not an official USN page. It is done by a Japanese fan boi.
Be sure to hit backlog for the different ships itinerary. For instance in the case of Kitty Hawk & Constellation the pages date back to 1998!!!...so Check it out! Also scroll down to the bottom of the page for more links to some good info and PIX!
