I'll second that! I'd like to see another
when the USN had SEVEN CVNs deployed at once..
Every sailor from seaman recruit to Fleet Admiral serving with the USN is trained in firefighting and Damage Control. Everyone....
Amen to that my friend.
The pictures from Summer Pulse, showing carriers deployed at various places around the world, siad something like this:
Here's one pic from the Atlantic with two US Navy CVNs and other nations flatops, including a US Navy LHD:
US Navy said:
040712-N-5405H-101 Atlantic Ocean (July 12, 2004) -- The nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65), on far left, steams through the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in formation with US NAVY ships and other multi-national warships as part of Majestic Eagle 2004. USS Truman (CVN-75) is on the far right. Enterprise is one of seven carriers involved in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat power across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's deployment under its new Fleet Readiness Plan (FRP). The strike group will conduct a scheduled training excercise followed by overseas pulse operations. Here's another one with three US Carriers in the Philippine Sea, which included Reagan, Kitty Hawk, and Abraham Lincoln:
Having seven carrier deployed at once, particularly with large forces of our allies, demonstrates an awesome amount of power available at once.
So here we see Truman, Enterprise, Kitty Hawk, Reagan, and Lincoln when seven were deployed. Two m,ore were somewhere else at the same time.
Of course in 2004 we had 12 carriers commissioned. Since then, Kitty Hawk and enterprise have been pulled from service. Enterprise is decommissioned and being taken apart. Kitty Hawk is in the reserve fleet.
